She just absolutely refuses to eat at HER bowl. We've tried closin rm. doors to prevent her going in, but then she'll take the food to another area. Of course she leaves crumbs all over when she does this, so we want her to eat at her bowl, but insists on her way, how do we break this habit?

She is the only dog in the household, and she's an indoor dog. We do have 2 cats, but she dominates over them.

Does she always take it to the same place? She may not feel secure/comfortable where her bowl is located.

A lot of times dogs who were lower in the pecking order as pups will stick with that habbit for life. I have a dog who is now 6 years old and she still does that, but she just puts the food next to her bowl. My advice, put her in a smaller room to eat, like a laundry room or bathroom, and keep a divider in the door, so that she can still hear you and doesn't feel trapped, but she is in a room so she can't spread food all around. She should get better over the years, but I wouldn't expect her to ever eat out of the bowl directly.

If the food is dry, one thing you might want to do is wet it. My dog crunches it to the side, and with wet food she usually eats it over the bowl. Not sure if that will work tho.

We also have a Mini Pin, and she also doesn't like to eat out of the bowl, she likes to be handfed but if not she will take the food out of the bowl and move it before she eats it, it sometimes takes her a while to eat, we also have an indoor German Sheppard and Two indoor cats. I'm not sure why these dogs do it but it might just be the way they do things, we let hr do whatever, we just have to make sure the G. Sheppard doesn't eat her food.

Well really I don't think this can be a habit that can be broken. My dog does the same thing. Now my dog does it because where his bowl is the floor is concrete and he takes it on the carpet. Where its not cold. (I asked my vet). In your dog's situation I think that that's just where she wants to eat her food. Do not take her out of her comfort zone because then she may not eat at all. Maybe it's something that she may stop doing eventually until then I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm not sure if you can. Some dogs seem to need to feed away from the food source. We've owned several that do this. It's almost like they're 'sneaking' away from a more dominant pet, even if they're an only pet. You might try putting a mat down where she takes her food most often, of course, if she goes to different areas, that won;t work.

I have the same kind of dog and he does it too. I don't think they feel secure with their head in a bowl not being able to see anything around them. I call him a chicken, its too funny. Thanks for posting this, I thought my MOJO was a wierdo, but now I know its just a Pinscher trait

Insecurity, Does not feel like the dominate animal in the house, this is common for small breeds. Don't worry about it. Just clean up after, will prob. stop when it feels more secure.

properly, in case you're permitting a three 12 months old to rule you presently on the place to consume i will purely think of the flaws the baby will injury out with later. tell the baby that nutrition is merely served on the table. actually everyone interior the living house could desire to then consume on the table on the comparable time as properly. turn off the television set for the time of eating situations. If she comes to a decision that she would not desire to consume, it extremely is high quality, yet tell her that she has to sit down down on the table on a similar time as something of you consume. If she throws a in good shape, positioned her in time out in her room and tell her that she will come out whilst she is finished crying yet that she would be ready to sit down on the table with something of you.
