i have a 10 week old kitten that I adopted from a rescue. He hasnt been eating very much so i brought him to the vet and they gave him saline injections, as well as some antibiotics- called claramox to take- although they said to give him the medicine on a full tummy. He ate a bit in the morning--so he got the medicine...but hasnt ate anything nor drank any water for the rest of the day....Im worried and dont know how to get him interested in his food. Anybody with experience have any ideas ? we love him and want hiim to be healthy!

Hi Charlie...whenever there's a new adoption kittens/cats take a little while to adjust to their new environment. Just be sure to leave the kitten food and water out at all times so when he becomes hungry he will be able to have a little to nibble on. He will come around in a little bit of time.

[edit] tuna "flavoured" foods are fine, however be certain it isn't tuna as this can cause enteritis in cats. Please see the following information regarding the dangers of tuna for cats: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AgA19_ooCSm4AMwYzyBoM.MjzKIX?qid=20070111170528AAiAKat

First, the cat may not want to eat if you hover over him, so give him a bit of space. Also, give him a choice of a few flavors of cat foods, things that he loved to eat before he got sick. If in a day or two, or if you are reallly freaked out, call the vet again. There is no reason to drive yourself crazy. This is like having a child. You would call the pediatrician if your child was sick. Don't feel weird about it. Be like most of us pet owners, the good ones that is, the ones who really love their pets and don't care if they make a fool of themselves and even get caught doing it. Call the vet and the hell with what the vet says, get the cat back there. The cat may be fine, but you aren't and you have to be in order to take care of your baby.

Something is going on with him if he is not drinking anything too. Contact the vet again tomorrow and let him know he is not intaking any type of nourishment or fluids. I am sure the vet will probably need to see the kitten again. I hope all turns out okay.

Most kittens/cats love tuna or fish flavored cat food{the moist kind}.Try giving a bit of that warmed up just a bit.Dont serve it hot but warm, that may work for you!
