Yes, freezing rain can make dangerous road conditions, and disrupt power lines. As far as how often only Mother Nature knows the answer to that.

We just got word on the news that our local schools are closed tomorrow and we are only having freezing rain right now. The freezing rain makes it very icy out there so yeah they can close the schools because of it but it would probably have to be a problem for the whole school district or atleast a large part of it. The place I use to live said the weather had to affect I think 75% of the school district.

Yeah, freezing rain closes schools all the time. If it's all over roads it makes them really slick and hard to drive on, and in areas where that's not common people aren't used to it and can't drive on it so schools shut down because most kids can't get there.

I think you're hoping!!

I heard some parts of Texas were closed because of it-now I am wishing the same thing will happen in AZ.

It actually snowed on us tonight on the way to bowling-it snows in the valley here once every 12 years or so. Never stays--

Anyway, good luck-if you want school to be closed, that is-
