that depends, are you a side sleeper? if you are, then it wont work, because you will mess your hair up by sleeping on it. i have the same problem you do, i have curly wavy/frizzy like hair and i have noticed that all these below work.
sleep with a satin, or a silk pillow case on your pillow, and it will keep your curls from frizzing.
dont brush your hair when it is dry, because that will make it frizzy
when your in the shower, wash, and condition your hair, and while the conditioner is in, brush your hair, and then rinse, what this will do is, make all the tangles out of your hair, and your hair will be brushed already and you wont have to brush your hair when you get out of the shower. it makes your curls/waves form while your hair is smooth, and keeps the frizz out, trust me, this one really does work.
good luck and i hope you try these!

If you're looking for more manageable waves, I'd suggest putting your wet hair into two braids before you go to bed and not brushing it or getting it wet in the morning. Putting the hair in two braids rather than two plaits means that you'd have more natural curls without the kink you get where the start of the plait was.
One reason that your hair could be getting frizzy is because you're loosening your curls too much. My hair can get very frizzy above shoulder length, so I used to wash it at night, work a small amount of volumising mousse through and then braid it for bed. In the morning, I wore a shower cap and didn't touch my hair until after I was completely dressed. Then, I gently worked my fingers through the curls so that I didn't seperate them.
Another could be that your hair is dry, so put on a moisturising hair mask at least once a week and look at the type of shampoo you use. I like to put on a leave in conditioner spray after I wash my hair because it gives you a nice shine without the grease of certain products. It also helps the hair to set without frizzing.
So, in short, maybe stick to an afro comb or wide toothed comb instead of a brush, never brush your hair when it's wet (use a comb), pull your hair back when it's wet so it dries 'tamed' and maybe look at curl serums.

After you brush it it might look like the back of your head is flat because your hair might tend to stay in the pigtail-shape again. But no, I don't think it will be frizzy. I say if you go to sleep with pigtails you wear pigtails until you take a shower.

your hair will get a kink in it right where the pigtails were. It won't make the hair more or less frizzy but it will make it less manageable in the morning. If you want less frizz... never brush your hair when it is dry. Brush it once after you shower then with your fingers comb through some frizz-ease to control frizz after it dries. Don't go to sleep with wet hair and expect to not have frizz the next morning.

I have way frizzy hair. When it dries, it puffs up like a afro, I'm hispanic by the way. It should not do that. What I do is wash it at night and use conditioner. Then spray some leave in conditioner in it and brush it out. When you sleep, lay on your back with your hair flat underneath you. It should take away most of the frizz. In the morning just use a flat iron real tuick to take out the indentations from sleeping. Pigtails will just leave indentations in your hair.

Before you put your hair into the pigtails, make sure you wash it and put in a leave in conditioner or a hair serum such as frizz-eaze, etc. When you brush your hair after you wake up, make sure you comb it or brush it with a brush that has plastic bristles (not soft ones) and your hair wont be as frizzy.

It won't be frizzy, just maybe a little more wavy. It depends how tightly you braid the pigtails. And it'll go away after a while.

You will have weird bumps in your hair where the pigtails sat all night. Try braids and just finger comb you hair in the morning. Works better.

The ends will be frizzy. Just braid it into one pigtail.
