i used to hate running, and it always made me out of breath real fast
and i wanted to like running too
so what i did was i would listen to music while i would run in my neighborhood, also i would set small goals, like to not stop untill this song was over, or untill i made it to that corner type deal
so i would say make small goals for yourself and keep them, no matter how hard it is, and then make the goals larger like stop when two songs are over or for two corners away.
so i would try that, =]
good luck, it worked for me.

Try walking for half the distance first, then run the rest at a slow pace if you can, stopping to walk if needed. Build up from there until you get in better condition. It's probably because running is hard that it's no fun, especially starting out. Most people hit it too hard starting out and quit because of difficulty or even injury.
If you haven't run before or it's been a long time, go really slow and don't go long, even for two or three weeks. Go only three times a week or so, even if you think you can do more. Make yourself keep to a slower pace or shorter distance. Go up a little each week, only staying that distance the whole week.
Be sure to get a really good warmup.
Running isn't the only thing to do, either. You may find another exercise you like better. Try different things to see what fits you the best.

You know what, running is very hard on your joints if you are overweight especially-- why not just walk? You can get the same level of cardiac workout from a good brisk walk, and people tend to walk longer because it is something they do naturally (whereas running, as you pointed out, isn't natural for you).
Congrats for wanting to make a new fitness start! I would also suggest to overcome the 'psychological reversal' (the thing that you know you should do but find hard to do, or the thing that you do even though you know you shouldn't do it)you might want to learn the energy techniques of Emotional Freedom Techniques. EFT is amazingly easy to learn and to apply and the results are stunning. An example from the sports world is how golphers have been able to improve their handicaps several points just by doing ten minutes of the technique before going out on the links. That has worked for my hubby. You can download the free Get Started Package at http://tinyurl.com/yh5zhu, or if you want to dive in right away by purchasing the inexpensive instructional DVDs click here>>http://tinyurl.com/ycwle8
All the best! Your body's going to thank you!

Well I run as much as much as i can...
and i found that listening to music helps..
nothing sad or slow though..
something that will get you motivated
and dont look at the amount of time youve ran..
pay more attention or somone important to you
and how proud they will be of you for running
and how proud you'll be of yourself..
