I have to go to Sacramento on friday for busniess. My 8 year old son's school is going to be closed that day so I thought I'd take him with me. I have to be in a meeting for about a half hour otherwise We would have the day to ourselfs. He loves animals and nature and is genrrly a coiuous kid

The Zoo is ok. If you don't want to spend the whole day there, here are some other attractions.
UC Davis is very close to Sacramento. They have the largest insect museum in North America. Very easy to get to.

There is a wonderful zoo in Sacramento. There are lots of animals, a snack bar in several area's and a wonderful gift shop. Old Sacramento is also fun. Made to be like an old west town there are lots of shops to visit. A magic trick/joke shop, Candy shop and several other great places and a wonderful pizza parlor. Try them Your Son won't be disappointed. GOOD LUCK. Hope this helps.

Yes, the Zoo is a good idea.
If you have time, swing by Old Town, take him on a train ride. Kids generally enjoy steam engines, horses and gold rush type stuff. The California State Railroad Museum is there and it's unquestionably world class as far as rail museums go.

there is a zoo. you can go to old town Sacramento, see the capital building, and the sac river.. umm. there is a cool place in roseville i can't remember the name but it is like a huge arcade place. there is ice skating as well. hope that helps.
