The calling of priests and nuns to celebacy was only approved after about 1200 ad. Prior to this priests, nuns and monks were often married and had children. Several problems with this occurred in that positions of authority in the Church became inherited and this was contrary to the good of the Church as a whole. Also reading the writings of Paul one finds cases for both celebacy and for marriage. Interestingly enough, one of the requirements for a Deacon was that the person be married and that their family be of good repute and discipline. The Celtic Church (Ceil Dea) is a Catholic Church founded by Joseph of Aramethea and James the Elder, required all priests to marry. In fact, the monks and nuns were also married. The vows of celebacy are not Biblical and are only a political arrangement to allow for advancement in a manner outside of primogeniture. More and more the Catholic Church is going to face heat over this until it passes away

God gives us all free choice, It is only certain sects that believe in abstinence, I am a Lutheran, as such my Ministers and Pastors have married and had children, I have an Uncle who is a Minister he is married and has three children. Certian people are not chosen to serve Him, we are all Chosen To Serve Him, some though decide to live their lives in the service.

First, do not assume that one who has called himself a "priest" is actually called by God. I was raised in a Catholic church AND school. I can assure you that not even all the priests and nuns are Christians. We even used to say ourselves, "I'm not Christian, I'm Catholic." Truer than we realized.
Second, do not assume that God authorized the celibate priest idea. That is actually a pagan idea, and Hislop goes into some good evidence that the early Christian bishops were married and had children. Certainly the apostles were married ("Peter's mother-in-law was sick . . .") I know why the Pope conjured up this celibate priesthood idea, but I won't go into that now. Suffice it to say that the idea is not biblical. The Bible says, "It is better to marry than to burn." 'nuff said.

I don't have an answer for that. I don't happen to agree with the Catholic religion. Jesus should be the one we seek and worship and pray to, not his mother. I am a Baptist and our pastor is married and has four children. In the Garden of Eden, God created a help-meet for Adam because He said it was not good for man to be alone. Maybe the Catholics mis-interpreted the Bible when they decided that priests and nuns could not marry.

Many times, it is the people who has the greed, sex drive and motives, telling others that they are the chosen one. So that they can manipulate the believers and take advantage of them. I have known people who suffered financial and emotional caused by those supposedly representing "God"
So watch out. They are out there to get you.

Because God gives us free will, to follow His Way, or our own way. And because it's a cross they have to offer up. It wouldn't be hard at all to be a priest if there was nothing else you could do. Celibacy for God is only worth something when you've got something to offer up. Jesus talks about celibacy for the kingdom (Mt. 19:12) "...and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom. He who is able to recieve this, let Him receive it."

I am the mater of my soul, I am the captain of my fate. This poem is said by a poet I don't remember his name right now.

You assume that A) God only chooses Catholics, B) that God dictates our lives and behavior completely and C) people with sex drives and or body parts can not abstain from seeking sexual fulfillment. All of your assumptions are incorrect.
