...how did you get the strength/courage to have more children after a NICU experience. I occassionally think about having another baby; however, my 18 month old is work due to her developmental delays not to mention the financial hardship. I'm 31 years old and am afraid that by the time my husband and I get financially secure it will be too late to try again. My health, too, isn't hte best as I had my preemie early due to preeclampsia and I still have BP issues. My OB/GYN told me flat out that my chances of having another preemie are pretty good. I just can't see going through that again, plus all of the hospitalization that I had prior to delivery due to complications. Any advice???

Adoption, at $32,000 is not an option. Like I said, we're still struggling w/ the cost of raising our 18 month old daughter.

Financial stability never seems to come! Don't concern yourself over that too much!
It sounds to me like you really don't want more children. That's okay. You don't have to have more children! Get an IUD, the chances of getting pregnant on Mirena are practically zero. IT'S OKAY TO HAVE ONLY ONE CHILD- OR NONE FOR THAT MATTER!
I decided that I don't want more natural children. (I have too many health problems!!!) But I have alot more love to give. I decided that 10 years from now I would take in a hard-to-place child, like a teenager. Maybe that will work for you too if you decide you actually do want another child

My two weren't exactly THAT prem - 2 weeks, and the second born was 6 weeks early. Both healthy. I was in my early 30's then. I think you could get a second opinion, but ultimately it is up to you. Will you or have you home help during the last trimester? Just so as you can get plenty of rest. Good luck on your decision.

every pregnancy is different-i had twins conceived days apart that caused a tubular preg. and lost both and ruptured etc, and went on to have a full term boy and a preemie girl--both tall, smart and full of what ails them and all after i was 35!--have a little faith in fate and go where your heart tells you.

have you ever thought of adoption? you can adopt new born babies or not new borns. there are so many unwanted children out there you could make a huge difference to one child as they could make a big difference in your life. or if you really want one of your own you have to decide if it's worth the risk
