I'm trying to start my own dog walking/sitting service and i need advice on the details of what other dog walkers charge and services they offer their clients? I'm also planning on doing cat sitting for people when they go on vacation

I had my own pet sitting business and I usually charged $15.00 per visit. This included a 20-25 minute walk, feeding, watering. Sometimes I would charge a little more if a 2nd pet was added on or I took the dog to the dog park for an hour or so. If I had to medicate, or do extensive watering I would charge a couple dollars more. I also did overnights and would charge $50-55 per night. It depends where you live, here in California people are willing to spend a lot on their pets. You should check with other sitters in your area and see what they charge and charge similarly. Don't forget you will need to get bonded and have insurance. Here are some good websites to help you get started:

The walkers here charge $10 an hr I believe. For your own benefit, make sure you have the relevant insurance.

If you are bonded, then customers are more likely to use your service. But good luck getting $25 per walk...that is a bit exorbitant. I personally think about $5 is more appropriate.

You need to call walkers in your area and ask them their prices...don't tell them you are planning on doing this! Ask as a customer and get a feel for the going rates.

This really depends on where you live, to be honest.

Good luck!
