Yes, it is unethical and also it is a very poor way to manage a team.

YES! My last ex bosses did that all the time and I really hated it. It made me wonder, what are they saying about ME behind MY back? They were forever talking about one employee being lazy and stupid (he was neither), and used racial slurs, just real childish crap. Plus it causes two potential problems. Either the favored employees will run and tell the other employees what was said, or they'll consider it ok with the boss if they treat the other employees poorly. Bad manners all around.

It is not only unethical, but it could be construed as harassment. Certainly, it is creating a hostile work environment. Report the supervisor to his/her bosses. Or to the union representative, if there is one. If it's really bad, legal action might be available.

Absolutely out of line, he/she shouldnt speak of an employee to anyone other than his supervisor. I am a supervisor and if I speak ill of an hourly I can promise that it will get back to them and depending on what I had said it could mean my job, not worth it if you ask me.

Yes. A person in a supervisory or management position should not badmouth, for lack of a better word, his/her employees with other employees. Unfortunately, I think the reality is that many do.

Not only is it unethical, it is down right stupid. That's the kind of stuff that gets supervisors fired.

absolutley. my ex boss was the worst. she was so unprofessional and her mother owned the company so it made it hard. i complained to the labor board and i needed proof. i kept a journal of all the things she did unethically, but my ultimate revenge was when i called out of the blue one morning and told her i wasnt going to be in-ever. told her to basically kiss my half-bread ***.

Yes. it is what we call in the real world a Jerk. If the boss has a problem with someone he should tell them not others. Consider seeking new employment, because if he / she does it to one he / she does it to everyone!
