Why do people on low budgets take on dogs, knowing full well that veterinary care is expensive? If you couldn't afford to take on insurance to ensure your dog was adequately covered, you were not in a position to buy a dog in the first place. If you can't find somewhere free or cheap, does this mean that your dog will have to suffer, should he fall ill? My girl collapsed last year with a haemorrhagic tumour on the spleen. Surgery was in excess of £1,000 and they couldn't guarantee her survival. What would you do, in your position? Watch the dog bleed internally until it bled out? If you can't afford full veterinary care for ANY pet, you are very selfish to own one. And cruel.

Hi - you need to join the PDSA - first you will need to take your dog along to register/have initial checkup (phone up for this appointment - don't just show up) - in order to receive treatment on a voluntary contribution basis you will need to provide proof that you are in receipt of benefits. This could be income support, housing benefit or such like. They will then give you your registration pack which keeps you a member for 1 year. Then you can book your dog in for an official appointment.
Hope this helps.

If you are on bemnefits you can take your pets to a PDSA clinic and only have to pay a small amount of money for treatment. You would have to look in telephone directory to see if there is one local to you.

Have a look and see where your nearest centre is, they operate on a donation basis, so please give what you can afford, these people do great work.
