I already have a pit bull. He's almost a year old. I have a friend that has two puppies he has to find a home for, and they are a doberman and a rottweiler. Would it be okay to raise these three dogs together? My dog is very friendly, and gets along with other dogs well. These puppies are very sweet and seem to like my dog well enough, but is there anything that I should worry about in relation to the three different breeds?

All of these dogs are male, and mine's already been fixed.

In the perfect world of dog/puppy ownership, that would be awesome.

However, it is more often that you will find a dog aggressive/reactive pit bull then you will not.You need to be prepared for a crate-and-rotate situation if it arises. If they all get along, great, if not, watch who gets along with who so when you do crate/rotate you know who can be out together. Your pup is still young enough he might take to these pups fine. But watch over the next 6 months to a year, he might display signs of dog aggression.

I hope you are aware of the size of the dogs....wow. That's gonna be quite the pack! I would HIGHLY suggest getting everyone spay/neutered. It will decrease the risk of dog aggression and fights in the house. Sixy (60) percent of un-neutered male dogs develop testicular cancer most of them by the time they are 5. Are you willing to lose the dogs at such a young age? There are many resources out there for low-cost (perhaps free) spay/neuters. There are some resources that might do your pit for free. Depending on where you live.

http://wwww.spayusa.org ---low cost spay/neuters
http://www.pbrc.net ----low cost spay/neuters for pits
http://www.friendsofanimals.org --low cost certificates for all breeds at selected vets across the nation. contact them for a list of vets that participate in the program that are in your area.

So, you can have all three dogs, just do your research and expect the worse. That way, if it doesnt happen, you are still prepared!

You need to read more about pitbulls !! They can play with other dogs as long as your around to watch them but you should never leave a pit bull along with any dog or mostly not a young puppy ! A pit bull still has that instinct in them to fight and fight til death ! they can be friendly and loveable too but it's still in there blood line! So you really have to be careful and never ever leave them alone together !! I think you should go look up pit bull's on the web and read more about that breed before you get another dog , no matter how much you trust your dog ! Of course your pit bull is good when your around because they know to be if your their! Also you know rotts sometimes will kill other animals too don't you ?!! if not look them up online too !

pit bulls would be ok with a rottweiler the only problem is they are both boys but it wont be a big problem untill u bring the doberman in or a girl dog because a doberman is known to attack more people than rottweilers and they dislike other dogs if u bring a girl dog in even if the dogs are fixed they will still fight over they girl and will try to make puppies the truth is gross. u never know about pitbulls though my neighbor has one and it is so nice but hats female dogs but loves people and loves playing fetch 24/7 if u hear growling i garentee it was nto a good idea to put them togather

You need to be prepared to "crate and rotate" if they do not get along as adults. Pit bulls are commonly dog/animal aggressive, and the trait can show at any age, most commonly between 18 months and 2 years old. You may wind up needing to keep one or all the dogs separated from one another in the long run, especially the same sex ones.

Make sure they are all spayed/neutered, which will cut down on the chances of aggression, fights, and accidental litters. http://www.friendsofanimals.org offers affordable spay/neuter certficates.

DO NOT take on these 2 extra pups if you do not have the time to socialize, train, and exercise them, or if you don't have the finances to feed and provide vet care.

As you are probably awared, puppies usually mean chewed possessions, potty training accidents, sleepless nights, etc. Go to http://www.libertydogtraining.com and then to FAQ for potty training advice to "refresh" your memory or give you tips to help.

I hope this helps. I currently have two pit bulls, one pit mix, one heinz57 and a cat at my house. In the next week or so, I will be getting a (then) 12-13 week old pit bull puppy to foster.

It can be done, but it takes work, dedication, and lots of supervision!!! Invest in sturdy crates before taking on this endeavor!

You sure can:) I have a Rottweiler and a Pitbull.. And they get along great.. Rottis will make it easier for you to train your other dogs they are so smart... As long as your Pitti isn't dog agressive Id say go for it:) You are going to have your Dominate female which that is going to be your ptti cause she has been in your house before the others.. I dont think that there will be anything to worry about:) Pitbulls are hard headed, Rottweilers you dont have to yell at them to listen, I have only had 1 doby she was very obediant I dont think that your going to have any problems:) Good Luck!!!

Why would you want to? 3 dogs under a year is a huge commitment, let alone those breeds.

Since you said that your dog is very good with other dogs, I think it should be fine. It would be easier to have puppies be around each other and make friends with each other when they are very young, though, making it that when they grow up they are used to being around one another.

When they are that young it should'nt matter. They all have bad reputations but it depends on the owner and what they are trained to do. Good Luck!

I don't think it would be wise to, unless you had partitions for each dog. They're aggressive dogs.
