Look up and research what a "toy breed" is. It is simply a premature puppy that can have a lifetime of serious health issues. They are also extremely fragile. The best place to buy any dog is a breeder. It is half of what you would pay at a pet store. The VERY BEST place, is an animal rescue center.

You can look into adopting a small dog from one of the many Rescue Clubs dedicated to helping each breed. All dogs are great and although I love Chihuahuas, they are not the dog for everyone.
You may look at the AKC list of the Toy Group and see if one catches your eye. If you click on the pic of the dog you can see its breed standard, temperament, etc and really helps in making a decision.
Once you make a decision then check the second link for the rescue group and find the one for your region. The greatest gift you can give a rescued dog is your love. The clubs sometimes have older puppies available as sometimes pregnant females or mom with pups are rescued as well.
Good luck!

the perfect position to get a domestic dog is at your close by S.percentA. they're typically purely $100., yet that includes spaying/neutering, all images, and also you've 2d images blanketed after some weeks. make a journey for your close by one and word all those eyes searching at you by ability of the cages retaining, "please take me homestead with you". in the experience that they do no longer have the type that you want, you should be placed on a waiting record and at the same time as one is presented in, they are going to call you. $100. isn't a lot for an animal who will be cared for and watched through a veterinarian for some days, get "fastened", be free of worms, fleas, ticks, and already have some early images with some more suitable loose ones coming later. rather some puppy shops do plenty a lot less for therefore a lot more suitable money. inspect those eyes; how are you going to decline! also evaluate the alternative, if the dogs isn't followed after some weeks!

AWWWW! Chihuahuas are the best. Maybe a min pin might suit you, or a pug. Toy breeds are not cheap tho unless you adopt from a shelter or rescue. Probably won't get a purebred, at least not a puppy.

I would be checking out petfinder.com and your local shelters. Any "specific" breed that you buy from a breeder at a "reasonable" price is most likely going to come from a backyard breeder.

My suggestion is to go to petfinder.com and enter your criteria for the dog. I hope you would consider rescuing a dog rather than paying top dollar for some dog at a pet store that probably came from one of the terrible breeders that don't properly care for their dogs and they have all kinds of health problems because of their lack of humanity.

go to http://www.petfinder.com and adopt. They are less expensive then getting one from a breeder, are usually vaccinated, spayed/neutered, micro chipped a lot of times, house broke if older, etc.
And you will be saving the life of another dog that your adoption opened the space for!
