I know I'm going to get a thumbs down by everybody, but tough stuff.
I completely agree with you. If you're good at math, and have good language skills, I don't see the point. I got bored my junior year of high school. I dropped out and went to community college. From there I have gotten a degree in business AND accounting. I'm now a tax professional.
Contrary to popular beleif, you do not have to graduate high school to go to college. If you get a decent score on your assesments they use it as an "ability to benefit" test. Basically they make sure you'd actually benefit from taking college courses rather than going back to high school.
In my view, even though I'm grown, I saved years of my life by doing this! I spent less years of my life getting harrassed by immature people in high school. I didn't have to deal with the drama of dances and dating boys who don't have any money to take you out anyway. I got to move on, meet someone to spend the rest of my life with, graduate college, hold a great job, and have a family. Since I started young I'm going to get to retire younger as well.
Good luck, and yes, I'm prepared to receive my big heaping pile of "thumbs down".

Well, if you look around. It seems like the people that go to school and go to school for a long time, end up being very successful. Look at doctors, lawyers, dentists, vets, etc. They all seem to make a very nice living and drive nice cars, live in nice houses, etc. So, I would think that high school is just another stepping stone for something bigger. It shows you accomplished something. You took the time to get the degree. Do you want to work fast food all your life??? Imagine making $10.00 an hour when you are 30. How are you going to support a family on a fast food restaurant wage???

It's simple. Getting a high school diploma will earn you more money. Even in entry-level jobs, employers will be willing to pay more to high school graduates. Also, you won't be able to be promoted beyond a certain position without a high school education.

By the way, only the shittiest jobs don't require a high school diploma. If you really hate high school, drop out and get a GED.

Uh sweetie....if you're Aunt is a Doctor then she either has a high school diploma or a GED. So, I think that you need to speak to her about why it's so important to have one.

Besides, working for minimum wage will not get you the life that you probably want. Believe me, a high school diploma will open doors and a college degree will open many more and in many more places than where you live. Think worldwide.

Please, get that diploma and if you decide that college is not you then how bout the military? It's a great thing to do...but, go Navy!!! It's the better and being out to sea is so great!!

Because working in a fast food joint for the rest of your life isn't a very bright future. Because a minimum wage job isn't enough to support a family. Because there aren't many jobs out there that you can get without at least a high school diploma.

The point of going to high school may escape you now, but in the long run, you will feel like you missed out on something....its not only what they teach you but the experience itself...it's part of the growing up process....yes, there are people that do not finish high school, it doesn't stop them from getting a GED Diploma, and still going on to college, and be successful in a career, but you will miss out on what is supposed to be the best years of your adolescence....I hope you choose to continue your education as it is a very important time in your life...

you cant be a doctor with out a high school diploma. so your aunt is not being entirely truthful. second why sell yourself so short. there are lots of great jobs. dont want to work in fast food its a pitiful job that you cant live off of. go to school and them go to college and make something of your self you are worth more that a fast food job

Changing world, standards are higher now. You can't survive on a burger king job these days. Plus high school is a great social time of life for people to discover themselves. The point of high school is not to graduate, it's to prepare for college, which has become more and more a prerequisite for full time employment.

it's not so easy these days to get a job if you have no diploma. also it is the foundation for any other education you get. a lot of states are now making it to where you don't make as much money as a person with a diploma. and would you really want to work at a fast food place for the rest of your life? trust me things are getting harder and harder for people with no diploma heck it's even hard for people who have one that have no college degree to get a decent job. i work at a restaurant (not fast food) and still have trouble makig ends meet. i'm going back to college again to get a teaching degree so i'll be able to make a decent living and have a gauranteed job.

The point is that if you can't finish high school, how will anyone know you will finish anything else? As an employer, I would never hire anyone that did not graduate high school. You atleast need to get your GED. High school drop outs make hundreds of thousands of dollars less than high school grads over the course of their lifetime.
