Try using a crate and redo house breaking. Take him out at night as you normally do and crate him for the night. Take him out first thing in the morning and if he doesn't go put him back in the crate and try again in 15 minutes. He really should have no unsupervised freedom until he is 100% reliable. Simple solution works on old and new stains, you may have to repeat steps two or three times but it will get it out. There is another one I think it is called Nature's Miracle it is a little better and almost double the price. Both are available at Petsmart or Petco.

Once a dog has marked a spot, they are going to continue going to that spot. We had the same problem. What you should do is keep your dog in a kennel at night, or leave him in the backyard if you have one. Then, when you can watch him bring him inside. Keep a soda can (any aluminum can will work) and put some marbles or pennies in it, then tape the hole shut. Whenever your dog goes over to that stain, shake the can and throw it near the dog (not at it). Likewise, if your dog starts to pee somewhere else, shake the can and then take your dog outside. Don't say "bad dog" or anything, just calmly walk in the room or calmly take the dog out.
After a while your dog will stop (as in a couple of times of doing this). The trick is, by you punishing him, he thinks as long as you're not there then he can do it, but if you throw the can, then the noise is like some unseen force punishing him, and he will associate that action with bad stuff.

The best way to get the smell out is to blot it as dry as possible with dry towels then saturate the spot with vinegar and let it dry naturally to get rid of the smell. If you don't get rid of the smell he'll continue to go there. It not only gets in the carpet but it gets in the padding as well. Don't give him any water after 8:00. The very best way to stop it is to put him in a crate at night. If he pees in his crate you should take him to the vet because he might have an infection.. Heres a site on crate and potty training that might be helpful.I have a 5 month old and I think they are the greatest little dogs.

My dogs are 7 and 8 and when I moved into this place someone before me had a dog(s) and they must have messed the floor because now one of my female PEES!! I could take them out every two hours but somehow she STILL manages to pee on the floor... !!! VERY Aggrivating!!!!! My fiance says that Baking soda and Peroxide and hot water will take the smell.... I have not tried that YET... I have been using this stuff from Petsmart called Petzyme... works GREAT but you really need to have some sort of carpet cleaner to go over the area and suck up the petzyme....anyways...good luck!

Ok, dont fret, puppies will be puppies. First do not rub his nose in the urine, it can cause upper respitory problems. I dont know if you crate him at night or not but it would be a good idea. If the space is small (so he can lay down and stretch but not play) then he wont use the bathroom where he sleeps. When you take him out put him on a leash or shut the door and wait until he goes. Then praise him and jump up and down. Do whatever it takes to get your dog happy. Dont give him too much room at night. Also, Mircle potion works good on pee spots. Whatever you use just make sure that you get somthing that takes out the feramones he leaves in the carpet. That drives the dog to use it there agian.

it seems like its become a habit for him. In my experience, you will have to reverse the habit to a designated area, maybe a corner of a kitchen, where you lay newspaper. I think your going to have to make him fear an object rather than you by using maybe a newspaper and not whacking him but like whakcing the floor every time he pees the carpet. then instruct him to the desginated area and every time he walks in circle around the carpet pick him up and move him to the designated area and if he tries moving just whack the floor with a newspaper. until hes kinda forced to do his thing there. After a while hell probably catch on. but ionno, 3 years old, its probably become a real bad habit for him.

the best way to train a dog is to use a crate at least until he/she is potty trained. Put them in the crate, take them out to pee, if he goes then let him play for a while in the house and then take him back outside to pee and then the crate. Keep doing this routine...
I would especially keep him in the crate at night, dogs will normally not pee or poop in their own bed. If you literally take him outside straight from the crate, he's gonna have to go pee or poop- you'll probably have to keep him on the leash and keep saying to him to "go potty" or "do your business" or whatever you want him to associate with going outside. Once he does his job, give him a treat, praise him and go inside to play for a while.
Good luck!

Probably time to either start using pee pee pads in this area or purchasing a crate. They say that crate training is the best. I am not sure if your dog is to old but it is definitely worth a try. Good Luck!

be consistent, and what we did is that every time the dog peed on the carpet, we would give her a shot of Tabasco, and it was VERY hot, so eventually she stopped peeing on the carpet. every time she pees there again, we just flash the Tabasco, and she runs away.

you may have to get him fixed, that is him being top male over you and marking your house, he isnt getting your correcting right because he doesnt want to, my mini dach. does the same thing accept he gets violent with me when he knows he does something wrong and is about to get corrected, I look at him and he flashes his teeth so I grab a switch and correct him till he whimpers, kids are corrected that way so are my dogs so they learn they are naughty, so be more firm and might want to stop the smearing of his face in it that will make any dog mad to just do it again infront of you, my dog pissed all over his bed and himself he then got corrected and a bath and the minute Iput him down he looked me in the eye and pissed all over his new bed after that, he got corrected for it and got submissive and never did it again. so firmness like the pack leader is key.
