all depends if you are going to do it at a venue or at home or someone you knows home. and what type of food you are talking about if you are talking about a pasta bar an salad with punch an cake i would say average it for 5 more then you think will show so about 45 it will cost you about 250.00 on food alone also try walmart or sams they have good cakes an affordable also they have alot of pre made meals also figure 50 100.00 on any type of decorations at the end of it all you will be spending about 400.00-500.00 because you will always find ways to stray off budget also get someone with a decent music system make a few Cd's on line an burn them an play for music

Try finding a hall or a park (depending on the season.) I have heard that Walmart makes wedding cakes for a VERY reasonable price, the cakes taste great. Decorations can be very inexpensive, especially if your creative. You could probably spend as little as $500, but that depends on the price of the venue. I'm trying to deal with the same issue.
