I am 15 years old, I am 5"9, and I weigh 139 pounds. This week has been the second week I have been working out at the gym. Before these two weeks, I was pretty much not active at all or used to streneous excersise. This week I have been at the gym for 2 hours, three times a week. I use many machines but I don't lift weights very much. Yesterday when I came back from the gym, I was extremely cold, but did not have a fever. Today I woke up really late, was once again really cold, and for some reason took a long nap and woke up feeling like I have a fever, but didn't. Are these signs of working out too much? Should I stay home tomorrow from school and rest my body? I need serious suggestions and advice. Thank you very much.

By the way, my body doesn't hurt as much as it used to.

Yes you're definitely hitting it too hard. Remember quality, not quantity. Work out smart and you'll see the fastest and best returns.

Definitely start out gradually and work your way up. Your body needs time to adjust to the physical onslaught of new activity - muscles need time to recover, grow and adjust, as well as bones and tendons. And you really don't want to become injured or burn yourself out.

I've seen too many people start out with a new exercise routine and quit because the pushed too hard or got injured. Try reducing the time to no more than an hour, doing a mix of cardio and weights. If you can, get a personal trainer, or at least find someone who is experienced to show you how to do things. Do less than you think you can do starting out.

What you should feel is good at the end of the workout, a little tired but looking forward to your next workout. If you're leaving the gym exhausted then you're going too hard. Most of all, have fun!

Sounds a bit excessive.

The trick is to start gradually with something you can substain.

6 hours a week is alot.
