I am trying to buy tickets from NY to Savannah, GA for May and just in the last 3 days the price has gone from $396 to $421 to $445 today. Should I keep checking hoping it may come down or do the ticket prices just keep increasing lately?

they increase as the priced come closer and closer to the date of departure. i would recommend getting tickets ASAP when you first know you're going to leave town.

If you have not yet purchased your travel ticket, then wait till the last minute, yes, the ticket could be very high. Its best to purchase your tickets as long before your travel date as you can and still be certain of your travel time/dates. I use Yahoo Travel to track airline ticket prices to my favorite destination. Its on My Yahoo page, with the latest cost. Anytime I see that number going down, I watch for a few days... purchase a ticket at a great price, and take a trip!
Its called Best Fare Tracker....
you'll find it on Yahoo Travel

You could try booking through a travel agent. Travel agencies usually are given discounted rates compared to published rates on the airlines' websites. And, the earlier you book, the cheaper, usually. P.S. Don't forget to request for a baby meal =) safe flight!

Usually the best domestic rates have a 21 day advance purchase plus you have to buy the tkt one day after doing the reservation.
If you are checking the fare so long in advance I recomend you to monitor it and as soon as you see a good fare, take it, because no one knows how long it will be out for.

yes, it's best if you buy 14 days or more before the travel date. also, if you can get someone to meet you in atlanta to pick you up you'll save a heck of lot more than flying into savannah; maybe enough to get a rental car and still come out on top.

Yes if you buy them directly from the airline. If you buy them from a travel agent then they might be fairly cheap even very close to the flying date.

Good Luck!!!
