This is from my homework, which I need MAJOR help with by the way. It gave me this as a reference:

"The Lord be with you. And with thy spirit. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord"

Aside from orally transmitted folk songs, Gregorian Chant was the main music form preserved universally in Medieval Europe. It blended Greek, Roman, and Hebrew sources. It was simple in range for most voices, had free flowing rythm, and was sung in unison.

Your help is GREATLY apperciated, Thank You

Christian Church music influenced people in much the same way that brand advertising and jingles influence people today.

They were an easy way to reinforce ideas in peoples heads in the form of simple to remember song, with a not so subliminal message. Having people dedicated to the church allowed the upper ruling class (who had a huge influence over, and in many cases mandated - see the church of england) to reinforce the idea of being dominated and accepting a serving role into the life and mentality of the serving lower class.

This allowed them to continue the concept of royalty ruling instead of a full democracy, despite having no inherent claim to the position.

Hey, could you extend this question for a couple days? I'm trying to find some information for you.

EDIT:
Well, my music major friend didn't get back to me and since your question expires in 2 hours, I'm afraid the best I can do is point you towards this Wiki article:

Sorry. Good luck with your homework.

That is an interesting subject, but i doubt you will get any help here. You need to research in libraries and sources where you can access this information.
