I'm straight, but I'm wondering about Christians' view towards gayness. I understand that your religion forbids it, but if a gay person is not a Christian and has not wronged your religion, why can you not accept him or her? Was it not Jesus himself that said, love thy neighbor? And suppose that the theory that some people are born gay is correct, then the prejudice would be completely unfounded, would it not?

There are some passages in the Bible that condem homosexual acts as an obomination. Some are vague and a couple are not. There are FAR more passages that condem the sin of being a banker!( Charging interest on loans etc.) what's the one time Jesus lost his cool and blew his stack? Was it gays? NO! It wasn't ven the people who killed him - he forgave them!!! It was Money Lenders! (operating in the temple) So clearly according to the Bible and Jesus, the gratest evil in the world are banks......thinking about it - that is probably true!
Other things the Bible says are abominations are women during a period, wearing cloth of mixed fibres, working on the Sabbath etc...
also, you are banned from going into a Temple if: You have a pug nose, you have crushed testicles, your eyesight is not 20/20 and many more (Read Lividicus some time!!!)

Some clergymen argue in favor of homosexuality, claiming that Jesus never spoke against it. But is that really so? Jesus Christ declared that God’s Word is truth. (John 17:17) That means that he endorsed God’s view of homosexuality as described at Leviticus 18:22, which reads: “You must not lie down with a male the same as you lie down with a woman. It is a detestable thing.” Moreover, Jesus listed fornication and adultery among the “wicked things [that] issue forth from within and defile a man.” (Mark 7:21-23) The Greek word for fornication is a broader term than that for adultery. It describes all forms of sexual relations outside lawful marriage, including homosexuality. (Jude 7) Jesus Christ also warned his followers not to tolerate any professed Christian teacher who minimizes the seriousness of fornication.—Revelation 1:1; 2:14, 20.

When religious leaders campaign for the ordination of homosexuals and Lesbians, what effect does this have on members of their churches, especially the young people? Is it not an inducement to experiment with sex outside marriage? In contrast, God’s Word urges Christians to “flee from fornication.” (1 Corinthians 6:18) If a fellow believer falls into such sin, loving help is given with a view to restoring the person to God’s favor. (James 5:16, 19, 20) What if this help is rejected? The Bible states that unless such ones repent, they ‘will not inherit God’s kingdom.’—1 Corinthians 6:9, 10.

Christians can set any rules they want in their religion, but when they start imposing them on the outside world, they are trying to create a theocracy.

I wish they would all take the approach of the Amish, and simply live their lives the way their faith declares they should, and let the rest of us see their example and decide whether it makes sense to us.

But they'd rather preach, forgeting to let their actions speak for them.

Their prejudicial statements make it clear to me that Christianity does little more than let you justify hating the people you would have hated anyway.

So you think that a Loving God would say that it is an abomination to be gay and then create some ppl gay.

This curse of being gay can be broken only by prayer AND FASTING, YOU MUST FAST AND PRAY TO BE DELIVERED, PRAYER ALONE WILL NOT WORK

i do love the gay person who i see walking around. But i don't have to accept what he is doing. being homosexual is doing wrong to my religion. If the theory that people are bron gay, then i wuold have to reevaluate my religion. So far, history has shown that being a homosexual is a choice. I'm not saying this guy woke up one day and said he wanted to be gay, I'm saying overall it was decided upon through the experience in the person's life.

Jesus did say to love, but one of the main themes of the new testament was repenting of sin, and turning away from it. Remember when He saved the adulteress from being stoned, He did not condemn her, but did say to her "go and sin no more". Christians go by the bible, and the bible says this behavior is a sin. We are all sinners, of course. Homosexuals are welcome to come to my church. However, what will happen is, they will hear the word of God, since we teach right from the bible. And since the spirit of God is present, they will be convicted of their sin, as all of us are convicted of our sins. We are all born with a sin nature. To say someone was born gay is like saying someone was born a murderer, a liar, or an adulterer.

The difference is, do they want to indulge themselves or do they want to live according to God's word? Same question for all of us, I'd say.

Christians always should love the person, regardless of anything. But that doesn't mean you have to love that person's actions. You can accept a person without condoning the path that person has chosen to walk.

Christians are to love people, but reject sin. I'm amazed by how much emphasis is place on homosexuality, as if it were the sin of all sins. It is no worse or different then any other sin. Most people are just not tempted by homosexuality like they are other sins, so they find it much easier to ridicule and criticize.

it's all about hate.

and since hating gays affects their own lives very little, it's ok with them.

they shriek about the bible to gays -- but when it comes to themselves, they ignore bible tenets. look at how they ignore jesus' prohibitions agaisnt divorce! and that's jsut one example of their hypocrisy.

ANOTHER EXAMPLE:

They quote all the anti-gay bible crap right away, like people have here. So then, i tell them that 1COR 14:34-35 tells us that women must keep their yaps shut in church. But do they? How's that one working for ya, huh, christians? Do all women shut up in church??

And then, they go into their usual double-speak about how that particular cult scripture doesn't apply to them -- BUT ALL THE GAY ONES DO.

It's such hateful, two-faced BS and nonsense....
