Why are you feeling so much pain? Is something going on currently to cause this pain, or is there something in your past (sexual abuse or something else)? You really need to talk to your phschiatrist on Tuesday and try not to be afraid. They are there to help and protect you. If it is serious enough to hospitialize you then it is just temporary. Maybe for a 72 hour hold. It does not mean you will be there for months or years. I do not think they can hold you against your will expect for the 72 hour hold. Be honest with your psychiatrist and let her know what you need (if you know) like a safety plan for you to stop cutting, plans coping skills you can use when you feel the urge, people you can contact and let them know what you are feeling, when you want to cut, people who can help distract you and support you and call for help when needed. You want to try and get this incontrol immediately, because it will just get worse. People who cut are usually trying to release their pain by cutting, but it can become very serious. You might need medication to help you for awhile. The chemicals in you brain may be off and you need to balance them. Are you working with a phychologist also, if not you should. If you and your roommate are close please share this with her, maybe take her with you to your psychiatrist appointment. You will need her help. Good luck! It is hard to work on ourselfs and to like ourselves, but you must before others will really like you and see you for who you really are.

You should definitely tell your psychiatrist. Don't worry about being put into the hospital or anything, cutting is actually fairly common. They will only put you in the hospital if they think you are dangerous to yourself or others. To me, it doesn't sound like you are either. Given, cutting is dangerous and unhealthy, but not life threatening unless you mean for it to be. Ya know? Your psychiatrist can help you with this. I totally understand the feeling of wanting out, but being continuously buried under a mountain with no way out. It'll get better, be strong. I like to think that these hard times just make us all stronger for the future. Good luck! :]

You have to tell somebody & be around somebody who can make sure you are safe. There is a fine line between self harm & suicide when all else seems worthless. I've been where you are & it's hell on earth but let me tell you that if you do speak out you can begin to improve the qualityof your life. Do you have aphone number for any mentalhealth crisis teams that you could call after hours. If you don't ring your closest ED & ask them for the number. Good luck & hang in there as there a loads of people like you that get through this stuff & become the people who can most help others in the future.

you need to tell your psychiatrist you are experiencing a problem and need help with it. You would only go to the hospital in you are going to seriously harm yourself or others, so don't worry about that.

What is happening you need to tell your doctor about it. It is called being a cutter. It is caused by an incident in your life that you are unhappy about. It is something that you really need to get help about. It is a psychological disorder.
