I agree.

If you hold onto the past there's no way in hell you'll be able to move forward.

The Native Americans, the slavery of Africans (which, by the way, I don't approve of the things they did..), etc. etc. --- This happened decades upon decades ago. It's time people let go and move on.

Deffinatly. I live in Virginia and I actually just read in the local paper today how African Americans want a formal apology from the state of Virginia for slavery. I agree slavery was awful and should have never happend, but also I believe we should put our efforts into deciding how the future will be much better than our past. We should consentrate on how to make the world a better place now, we cant change the past but we can make a difference now and in the future.

Yes I do. All races of all countries have wronged other races throughout history. This is fact. Native Americans fought other Native Americans, ancient Mexicans against native Americans, Mexicans fought other Mexicans for their independence, European settlers sought to conquer America when they arrived, the American revolution, the American civil war, Africans sold their own countrymen into slavery for money. There have been countless wars throughout history.
The sad fact of life is that Racism will always exist. It is your choice if want to contribute to and feed racism. Treat others as you would like to be treated. Try not to judge others based solely on the color of their skin. There is good and bad of ALL races.

YES!! look to the future. The past is to be learned from, it cannot be changed.
The future of this great nation is in peril and WE THE PEOPLE need to DO something to make a brighter future for our children and their children so that they do not have to face the challenges we face now. Good fences make good neighbors, this applies at the national level as well as the neighborhood level.

All the wronged groups need to move on. Dwelling on it for so many years isn't healthy and doesn't contribute to anything but the rest of us getting less sympathetic. If everyone operated with the Golden Rule in mind history wouldnt repeat itself.

Yes. I hear the same old garbage about Europeans fleeing their countries to get a better life. Well, that wasn't my ancestors. My ancestors didn't own slaves. My ancestors weren't illegal immigrants, anchor babies, or any other crap they try to equate to the current problems with massive illegal immigration. Those who try to blame you for the past as a way of justifying their misguided ideas about the present, know they are wrong. They are grasping at anything and usually resort to screaming racist.

I can see part of your point and yes, in a sense, I also believe that thinking about the future is very important. However, we must never forget about all the wrongs that have occurred in history because those memories are what help us to build a better future.
