I have natural blonde hair and i just dyed it myself a light golden brown. it turned out to have alot of red tints in it and i didnt like it, so i went to the salon to get it fixed and the woman had no idea how to color hair! it turned out a medium brown on the bottom with no red tints but on top its darker than the bottom with ALOT of red in it. I really want to go back to dark blonde, but i know you cant dye brown to blonde. What should i do? i look horrible!

find someone who knows how to color! they can strip it out and color it correctly. I guess you'll have better luck if you go to a high end salon-I don't like to categorize like that but I guess the odds are better that they have had more training. consultations should be free so just talk to someone-you can tell in their confidence and the way they approach it if you should make the appointment at the end of the consult. if they keep making faces and don't really explain what they would do then it's a no! good luck

You're going to have to do an all over bleach... kind of hard to do if you don't know what you are doing.... then apply the color you want over it.
start by parting your hair in to 4 sections, part hair down the middle then from the end of the part on top to just be hind the ears on each side will make 3 sections, part the back down the middle connecting to the first part to the nape
Then you're going to start at the bottom of the back right section taking no more then half inch horizontal sections applying the bleach half inch away from the scalp. Take the next horizontal section above the last, applying the bleach the same way up that section to the top. Do the same to the left back section then to the right front, and last the left front. Doing so in a timely matter.
When done apply bleach to the area you left from the scalp, applying the same way you did the first time.
During the application of the scalp part, keep an eye on the first ones you did. When hair is the color you want it, keeping in mind that the hair will look lighter with bleach on it, also making sure you don't leave it on too long, use a spray bottle to wet only the hair that is the color you want it. The last section will take longer then the first and will take a few hours.
When the bleach part is over, color with the color you would like it back too.

Okay Don't worry you are going to be all right. Since your hair took such a beating I would suggest you wash your hair with a gentle shampoo the 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner. After you've done that don't wash your hair for a couple of days so all the natural oils in your hair are restored. Since there is so much hair color in your hair what I suggest is that you is your use a quality hair color remover. I personally reccomend the loreal color zap. Your hair will be ready for recoloring in no time. Try coloring your hair by exploring the loreal feria blonde collection. If you want to go dark blonde i recommend the Loreal #70 Shimmering sands Dark Blonde. It is a natural looking shade that miniminzes the unwanted red/gold tones in your hair. Dark Blonde is great but don't hesitate by going all the way to a light Blonde. Light Blonde will look great. If you want Try the Loreal Feria #120 Platinum Crystal Hight lift ash blonde. It is a lovely Ash blonde that is never brassy. Another tip steer clear of warm shades, the shades I mentioned above are cool. The cool shades reduce reddish tones while the warm shades enhances them. After you colored your hair put mayonnaise on it. I know it sounds a little odd but Mayonnaise is a great conditioner beause it adds essential nutrients to hair and makes it healthy and shiny. Just rinse afterwards, and for an extra boost use a leave in conditioner. Your hair will look fabulous. With these tips you will look fab and glam!

sorry about what happened. In order to lighten you hair it would have to be bleached. but because of the unevenness it would be very hard to do. You risk breaking the hair, even more uneveness, and still alot of red. the easiest thing that could be done is to tone down the red on top and even it all up with the darker color. At this point going to another salon would be the best way to get as close back to your normal color. A good way for you to get good information on what you can do with your hair at home is to call 1-800-Clairol. they have one of the best customer service lines for haircare around. and I'm not just saying that because i work there.

I am not sure where you want to be on color but I do mine have for years, if I were you and wanted to get back to some what the color that I had or just a little darker I would get a strawberry blonde to put on it. I would suggest a good conditioner first........this will give you back some of the blonde with red highlights..........

Good luck

whatever you do if you decide to try brown again dont get a ASH brown it will turn your hair a gray color. I dyed my hair blond and it was way to blonde for me so I grabbed a box of ASH brown and my hair had this gray tint. and I had to work all day in it. and I know this doesnt answer your question but I thought I would let you know this so you dont end up doing this to your hair.

I've done this before and it sucks, and I've got light blonde hair. wait a couple of days and then bleach it out n redye it to closest natural color. USE lots of GOOD conditioner afterwards cause its gonna take a toll on your hair, I recommend you try Pantene daily moisture renewal to re strengthen your hair, its got wax in it that will coat your hair over time and bulid the strength back in
