the child will day dream no matter what it isnt a matter of if or when or how to stop it but how to work around it. If he is getting bad grades then he needs to learn focus.
However most daydreaming is done because the child has become bored in class so he may not have an issue cause he may already know the topic and the subject and what he needs to know of what is being taught.
in other words your child may not be challenged enough by his current classes.

Oh my God. Do not stop your 6 yr old son from day dreaming. Encourage him. Give him some waterbrushes and paint to convey what he see's. Give him a recorder to play. Give him some clay to play. Give him the crayola box of 64 and a lots of paper. Show him how to fry chicken. Put his *** in front of a TV. Play music all the time. Beethoven, Beatles, 50 cent. You have no idea. Expose your son to everything possible. Let him find his "muse".

It could be that he's bored with the school work. The teacher should make an effort to spend more one on one time with him - but we all know that's not gonna happen. I hope you can find a solution.

Give him some incentive like a really special thing if he gets A's on the rest of his papers for a week.

He's 6 years old... he's bound to daydream. He might ALWAYS daydream... some people are just daydreamy type people. Don't let teachers tell you that your kid has a problem, when maybe it's just his personality. People are all different.
