YOU are responsible for the well being of your cats. YOU have to make the easy decisions on what cat toy to buy as well as the hard decisions on when to end the cat's life. Nobody said it was easy. It's hard. You will cry your eyes out. But the bottomline is YOU will be an irresponsible person if you do nothing for your cat and you sit around thinking only of yourself. Make the decision to be an adult, stand up, be strong, and take your cat to the vet. Be there with your cat petting it and telling it you love it. Make the last thing it hears is you saying you love it. Be calm for your cat, fall apart later. Go home, light a candle and say a prayer, ask your higher power to look after your cat's soul and help it cross over the Rainbow Bridge and keep it happy until you can be together again. Then you have a good cry. I have my cats ashes and we'll be scattered together some day. Now make the decision to help your cat. This is where being a pet owner really means something. Take care of what needs to be done, knowing the cat has lived a VERY long life and it died being loved. One can hardly ask for more than that. Buck up, be strong, do the right thing. Take some deep breaths and get your kitty to the vet as an emergency don't wait. You CAN do it. Blessings to you and your cat.

Hey! I know what it's like to have a pet sick and no money for a vet. The important thing is not to despair! Pull up the entire list of veterinarians in the yellow pages and call and FISH FOR FREE ADVICE. :D
Just make sure you do NOT take the advice of the folks on these boards who suggest you give your cat human medicines unless you check with the vet's office first.
A first phone call to a vet is like a free consultation because vets become vets because they CARE about animals.
The best free information you can get for your cat is from a toll-free phonecall to your local vet clinic! :D

Call a few vets- Most have payment plans or credit you can apply for, even if you have poor credit.
I have been there. I have a cat that has genetic kidney disease and I spend thousands a year on her. Some people think I am crazy- but before I had my family she was it. So the financial burden to me is similar to having a child.
Good luck.

I think you should take it to the vet and try to make payment arrangements keep your cat in the house and stand close by until you could get it the help it really needs this could definitely be very serious.

Not to be too critical, but not having money shouldn't be an excuse. Sounds like it needs a vet. A pet should be like a kid. You wouldn't not take your kid to the doctor cause you didn't have money. You'd find a way. Look into pet insurance.

it may sound crazy but you can actually give a cat childrens or infants cold medication. i had to do that once. he coughed up a large loogie almost immediately afterwards. the infant meds come with a dropper. your cat will fight you but it will work. my friend bred cats for a living and she's the one who told me to use the infant drops. hope your kitty feels better!
