Hi there...cats who have an upper respiratory infection (URI) need to be evaluated by a veterinarian. An antibiotic needs to be prescribed for seconardy infections as a result of the URI's. Since 90% of cases are viral infections. However, antibiotics are prescribed it is because of the complications by secondary bacterial invaders. The antibiotics act on these.
Could you consider borrowing money from friends, family...use a credit card? Your cat's health is very critical and he truly needs to be seen. Consider applying for Care Credit http://www.carecredit.com which provides loans for veterinary care assistance. Consider also calling around to ask who can provide some charitable low cost veterinary care in your region or ask whoever you ring if they know who does.

OH geeze! Some people think they are so holier than thou! I totally understand! I'm in the same boat. Love my pets but don't always have the money NOW to go. And vet's are so snotty about that! Especially the Emergency ones on the weekends! I HAD to go tonight! I got lucky and was able to borrow. RARE! But he required surgery and 35 staples for a huge gash in his skin. That cost 365.00. I don't have that kind of money laying around either. Anyways, if you have amoxicillian, you can give that to a cat. I have. And that is what you get from a vet. The same kind we get. It would be nice if you had alittle left over from a child. Now, you'll have to call a vet, explain what you are doing so you can get the right dose. Hope this helps. Tell kitty to get well.

Well you shouldn't have a cat if you can't afford to take it to the vet when needed. You can try feeding wet food as it will be less work to chew, and easy to swallow. Keep him in a warm place (maybe try putting a hot water bottle under a blanket for him to sleep on). If it is just a cold, he should be better in a week or so. If it takes longer than that, and you don't want to see him suffer, find him an owner than can afford to take him to the vet.

It relies upon on the placement. If the canine is whelping a muddle of puppies or a cat has slightly diarhhea then the 1st decision may be to handle it at residing house to work out if the placement gets greater advantageous. And mutually as waiting human beings can ask different puppy proprietors in the event that they have any concepts on the thank you to handle the difficulty and ask for regular suggestion. If it does not get greater advantageous then the subsequent decision is the vet. some human beings do have some hum dingers on right here, yet for the main area the questions are stable, valid ones.

Go out on the internet and look for vets that willl take pets if the owner has low income. Tell them you can still feed and water the animal but vet visits are too expensive. If you truly don't have enough money, and you just can'y afford the cat anymore you have to give him to some one who can take care of him. I know that this will be hard but you have to.

Sounds like you NEED to take your cat to the vet, can you get a loan from a friend or family member? Call the vet and see if you can do a payment plan. Your cat is not going to get well on it's own, sounds like he needs some antibiotics.

i understand what ur saying i was in the same boat as u and couldnt afford it. if u have a vaporizer turn it on it will help his congestion if not, turn on a hot shower and steam up the bathroom take him in there and that will loosen up his congestion so he can breathe better. also, u can give him saline drops in his nose it doesnt hurt him so dont listen to all those crack heads that say u cant give animals human medicine. u can give it a little drop of infant benadryl, make sure u keep him warm and away from drafts..try a heating pad or hot water bottle to lay with him, if he wont eat then microwave his food (preferably canned catfood) and he will be able to smell it better so it will be more appetizing to him. you can also go to google and type ur question in and alot of useful tips with pop up. good luck with everything i hope ur cat gets better because i know i was devastated when my cat was sick. also make sure the cat stays hydrated. u can give them pediasure (for babies) and it really helps in keeping the cat hydrated.

I know you care about your cat.
However, I also know you are probably posting this question on your or your families computer. If you can afford a computer and the electricity to run it......you can afford to TAKE YOUR LITTLE FRIEND TO THE VET.
I am not scolding you.......just, hopefully, nudging you toward doing the right thing. It depends on you just as you can depend on it to be your special and wonderful friend for many years to come.
Veterinarians will almost always set up a payment plan that is affordable. They chose their profession out of deep compassion for our best friends....rely on their love and knowledge!

I think it is important to take your cat to the vet, they will put you on a payment plan, just make sure you tell them you are short on money and do not want to see your cat suffer!!

If your cat is THAT sick, then you'd better take him to the vet . If you take on the responsibility of a pet, that includes taking care of its medical needs too! Otherwise, get a gold fish that you can flush when you're tired of it.
