i have tons of wav files i need to convert to mp3. maybe something with an easy interface? spyware free, and all that...?

An easy way to do it is to go to the below link and download both "Audacity" and the LAME MP3 encoder on the same page. Both are free. Run Audacity, and then after loading a .wav file, choose to "export as an mp3" from the File menu, and for that time only it'll ask you to tell it where the LAME MP3 encoder is located. Do that, and that's the last time you'll have to do it. From then on you can convert any .wav file to mp3 that you want. Good luck.
