I'm sure that he hopes that Christianity will spread as a result of the U.S. intervention in Iraq, just like I'm sure that he is a savvy enough politician never to make that desire public lest his enemies accuse him of starting a war for religious reasons.

Sadly, I suspect "yes".
If that was his goal in attacking Iraq, he should be hung until dead. The U.S. military is not the property of a church or a religion, and using it to spread a religion is treasonous, and probably a war crime as well.

No. He wants to spread democracy. Apparently the messed up society the US has, like the new military putting women in uniform and having an officer system, is also spreading.
