yes-it can be very addictive, especially physically. You can develop a lot of unpleasant symptoms if you try to stop taking it

It IS physically addicting. Can cause severe withdraw symptoms compareable to cocaine or herion, depending on severity of the persons dosing. The main side effect of alprazolam, or any benzodiazepine for that matter , is that tolerance rapidly develops, usually leading to some form of addiction, which will need to be tapered off. Cold turkey is reportably the worst thing in the world when on benzos, i experience these people first hand daily.

if you are having to take that big of a dose, my guess would be that you are already addicted. i took xanax before and while i loved the way it took my anxiety away, i became dependent on it too fast. you dont even realize it until you try to get off of it and cant. be careful with it. it can shut you down...it can be fatal. make sure you are closely monitored by a dr taking that much.

yea, its not addicting if you use it once in awhile though. I take it if I need to calm down or when i feel anxious. If you take it everyday and your body is used to having it in there, you cant just stop. You need 2 ween off, or you will have a bad experience. And sometimes it may lead to seizures. Take it in moderation like everything else. Nothings bad inless you abuse it. But yes it CAN be addicting. B safe

Yeah pretty addicting and once you get hooked getting off of it brings about some withdrawals in most cases. Should be safe if taken as directed by the doctor though.

It is not physiologically addictive but is habituating. Meaning, it makes you want to take it more and the more you take, the more you want.
The side-effects include: drowsiness, lethargy, slurred speech, short term memory loss.
