I will be traveling domestically, not interational or anything. It would be in my suitcase, not my carry on. Would the airport check to make sure I am 21 or over? If so how do they do it and what are the consequences?

they won't know unless they examine the contents of your suitcase. Pack it well....nothing worse than a bottle of alcohol spilling all over your clothes. Takes a long time to get that smell out of your clothes.

Enjoy your trip.

I don't think anyone checking baggage has a way to know how old you are. Your airline should be able to provide it's alcohol policy. This is one from Southwest Airlines:

Alcoholic beverage must be in the original unopened container with the manufacturer’s label. The maximum quantity of alcohol that may be transported in checked luggage on Southwest Airlines is five liters per Customer. Wine is not subject to the five-liter-per-person limitation. Alcohol in checked baggage must be securely packaged in a leak-proof bag with a Styrofoam cushioning and a sturdy cardboard outer package to prevent spillage. Alcohol content may not exceed 70% by volume (140 proof).

Ok that aside, I hope you are bringing this as a gift for someone else. Otherwise, if you MUST take this with you, you may have an alcohol problem.

If it's in your checked baggage, nobody is going to know whether the person who matches the bag is over 21, unless they go look up the records. Assuming the bottle is unopened, they wouldn't have any reason to check; if you're not consuming it, you're not in violation of any laws that I know of - it could be a gift for someone, after all.

Be sure to put it in a zip-loc bag just in case it should break (as you should put ANY liquid in a zip-loc bag when you put it in checked baggage, just in case). Alcohol on all your clothes is not a fun way to start out a trip!

Not to condone something illegal, but it's unlikley booze in checked luggage would be matched to a passengers age. Alcohol is allowed in checked luggage, and unless there is something else illegal, security would have no cause to check who the passenger is or their age on a domestic flight.

If its in your checked baggage, probably nothing will happen. Having said that, be prepared to have it confiscated. A minor in possession of alcoholic beverages is a violation of the law and if caught you can be prosecuted. Is it worth the chance? Only you can answer that.

they check everything when you get on a plane. If I were you I would not take the chance. Have you ever seen the movie Midnight Express? Watch it and you'll think twice.

Airport security is not there to enforce drinking laws.
