James 1:19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; (20) for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness that God requires.

(21) Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. (22) But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. (23) For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. (24) For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. (25) But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

(26) If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.

Okay... Just what are you asking?

A wise man does indeed choose his words carefully. And does not "entertain" evil (that is, avoids evil). Of course, "evil" is largely subjective. I have heard, among other things, the following described as evil: Rock & roll, television, movies, women wearing shorts, drinking beer or wine, playing cards, men having long hair, women having short hair, pre-marital sex, missing church on Sunday, not honoring Saturday as the Sabbath...

Your question gives, in part, the definition of a wise man. Did you have thoughts of your own that you'd like to share?

Be mindful of your words knowing that there is life and death in the power of the tongue and refuse to walk in the company of the ungodly are two of the attributes of a wise man or woman.

I would suspect a wise person will also have other attributes like being an active listener in order to acquire knowledge, wisdom and understanding. Be teachable. Humble and not proud to think that they know everything or they know best.

Of course there are more attributes. I leave it to other people who are going to answer.

To me this means that a wise person always thinks before he speaks. He or she also speaks the truth in love, and will always avoid any and all situations that are evil and will get them in trouble. The will steer away from troublesome situations.

That's common sense. If one doesn't want any sarcasm in their lives they wouldn't talk to sarcastic people (entertain sarcasm). If one doesn't want racism in their lives they wouldn't talk to racist people (entertain racism). The same goes for "evil" although I don't really believe in evil.

Blessed Be.

I'm sure that answering my (VALID) question with "Mind your own business. You're a drama queen." has something to do with your "question". Grab a clue and stop hiding behind your monitor to be rude to other people. Think outside the box dumb-dumb.

This means that we shouldn't deliberately put ourselves into situations where we will be tempted.

It also means we shouldn't tease others into tempting us.

Careful words are also loving and not needlessly offensive.

I think that's pretty lame excuse for not speaking out against those who make it their goal to persecute and defame the name of God
