Yes, but only after renaming it an "American Poodle" rather than a French Poodle in accordance with the post-9/11 tradition, sparked by the Bush administration, of renaming all things "French" as "American"--for example, "French Fries" became "American Fries". Only kidding.

No. I tend to be more of a terrier person myself. Although poodles (at least the standard ones) are extremely intelligent, the require a lot of maintenance. the haircuts every six to eight weeks would just be too much for me. I know people that have poodles and love them, but they also have the 60 to 80 bucks to throw down for the haircuts. If you are looking for a low maintenance dog, I'd pick something with a shorter coat. As for miniature poodles- they require grooming just as often and they tend to be very yappy. Leave them for the 80 year old ladies.

Sorry but there is no such thing as a French Poodle.

There are three types of Poodles: Toy, Minature and Standard. French is relative to the type of cut. And yes...I have a Toy poodle and she is wonderful. One of the most intelligent breeds.

I personally would never have a poodle. I have had past experiences with poodles. They are like a one person dog. Aggressive to guests and tend to be twards other dogs. But there are acceptions. Their health problems when older are a real pocket buster becuase they are prone to cancers, caterax(sp) and hip-displaysia. The smaller of the poodles are also extremly abnoxius and along with any small breed have potty training problems. But thats just how its gone with 3 different poodle experiences with me.

If I had room for a standard poodle, I think they're good dogs. When I was a kid, a neighbor had one, and I really liked him. However, I wouldn't do the show clips on them; I prefer an ordinary sport clip.

My mom bought me a toy poodle when I was six. I wanted a cat. She ended up breeding them and let's just say I never really thought they were all that great of dogs. No more foofball dogs for me, big or small.

Yes they are great, smart dogs and its the people who give them haircuts that make them look funny...although they do need it to saty cool in the summer. Yeah, either way they are great dogs.
