The police are not "intended" to insult people.
The police are intended for law enforcement.
If you get arrested, it is OK to be upset about it, but don't take the arrest as an insult, the officer is just doing his or her job.

Sometimes the only way to get your attention is to insult you, basically stooping to the level you would under stand, For instance you stop a car ar 4:00am and there is nothing around for miles but you and the cop. The cop asked for your license and you say" who me." I think that that would call for a snappy response from the cop. We get tired of dealing with "cute tough guys" and sometimes they need to be brought down.

Basically if you talk to a cop like he / she is a moron, they have the right to talk to you the same way. Most cops don't let the BS they are told get to their head. I simply shrug it off and just think about how the person insulting me really doesn't matter. Plus they are upset and probably wouldn't talk like that any other time.
Also, if you ask the cop over and over and over again to let you go or why am I being arrested after you have been told multiple times, you are stupid.

If you act like an idiot, they will insult you. I have never been insulted by any police officer.

Why are citizens so rude and cannot see that we have very hard jobs and are just trying to keep them and ourselves safe? Maybe instead of complaining you should just say "Thank you" for protecting my freedom and liberties.

It's combination of intimidation and power. The huge power they have corrupts. It's the same as bill and hillary. After a while on the job, some (not all) let that power effect their thinking, and they start thinking they can do or say anything they want to anybody who is not a cop or is not over them in city council or Mayor. It's a power trip. And no, it's not legal or proper but 'wotcha gonna do'?
"Absolute power corrupts, absolutely."--One of the Founding Fathers
