O.k is it me or everytime I turn on the news I am being told that a Blank amount of U.S soldiers have died from a plane/helicoptoer crash? I can bet there has been more troops dying from crashes then ground soldiers. When the media says plane crashes do they mean it's been shot down? am I missing something?

SO ARE SHOT DOWN AND SOME ARE NOT.The details are often sketchy.I have to say ,these are people who volunteered for Bushes illegal war.I just dont feel much sympathy for them. They are there because of what they believe in.It is their choice

News reports of the helo crash & 13 crewmembers deaths was yet another upsetting/unsettling by product of the war in Iraq.

The details are usually sketchy for a reason. Giving logistical info does not offer any benefit to you & I as we watch the news, & could give damaging info to men trying to KILL our troops.

The previous statement that most aircraft have been shot down had no supporting references, & I would venture is a total GUESS.

In Viet Nam the majority of aircraft we lost were shot down. This is a different war in different conditions. Sand is not a friendly environment for any aircraft, especially ones being flown under stressful , les than ideal conditions.

As a proud veteran of our armed forces I find it intersting how little attention most Americans pay when a plane or helo crashes during peacetime in non combatant operations. It happens w more frequency than most realize.

I mourn the loss of those lives as heroes equally w the heroes who perished yesterday in that crash, & hope more will respect the job our armed services do 24/7 war or peace!!

Their sacrifices for our way of life demand nothing less, & their families grieve their loss just as intensely.

Some are shot down, and some suffer from mechanical failure. This not the President's war, this is America's war. We the people are allowing it, because we the people allow our Legislative branch of government, and their lobbyists to allow it. That said, where do we stop Islam, in our neighborhoods, along our streets, or in door to door fighting? Islam IS a dangerous religion. Ask yourself why those who are Islamic do not do more to stop all of this, even though they may say they are against it? It is all part of their religion. They won't do anything, even if their neighbor was in trouble from a radical. A christian would, a Christian would intervene where an Islamic would quote something from the Koran and say I can not help. We had best stop them there, in the middle east before it all comes down to fighting in America. They are that determined to have their way, and I assure you that we don't want them having any kind of control here. This war is in our best interest because we do face an enemy bent on destryoing us. If you don't care to believe it, then go get a copy of "Unveiling Islam". It is written by 2 brothers who were raised in Islam. See what they have to say about the intents of radical Islam, and how much aid will come from "peaceful" Islamics.

Most of the time there shot down but it's still safer for the troops to travel by air due to all the IED's along the roads

BS if they were shot down the "liberal" media as the repugs like to call it would blast that news all over the headlines. Most of them are simply accidental.

It's you. It's (the ones I've heard of) due to the stupid AS5 mechanics that can't do their job right. My husband deals with them everyday and one little mistake that could have been prevented can f*ck up the helicopters.

It just seems that way because when a helicopter crashes, there are often many people on board.
