There's no shortcuts, I'm afraid. If there's memories in the past that you don't want to deal with or are painful, I suggest not staying home and linger on them. Get out instead and involve yourself in things that'll keep your mind off whatever's bothering you. If you think it's more serious than that, then try to seek out professional help, and surround yourself with family or some other positive support group.

Meditation, therapy, and keeping an active busy lifestyle might help.

Hypnotism is worth a shot. Meds may make you focus more on the present than the past--but I don't think there's one to make you forget your past.

Versed causes anterograde amnesia. That means that after they give it to you, you won't remember anything that's happening to you. It's a very freaky feeling. Medical professionals won't tell you what they're giving you and what it does to you. Beware, if you are going in for a medical procedure or surgery. Find out if they plan to use this drug and let them know if you don't want to be deprived of your memories.

I don't know of any drugs that you can take AFTER you have acquired memories, however, there are drugs that can be taken (date rape drugs) that prevent memories from forming. This is why date rape drugs are illegal . . . they knock out the victim and they don't remember anything that happens after that.

There are amnesic agents like scopolamine and Versed that work only on the recent past , short term memory. (like for surgery) but I am unaware of any agents that work on the long-term memories.
