The only one that almost completely separates them is the Marine Corps. On bigger things like the gas chamber and the rifle range, we had to do it along with the male recruits, but on PT (physical training) we had our own little battalion on the other side of the base. It was nice not worrying about if you look sweaty around the guys... even though you shouldn't be thinking about that in the first place ;) We were not allowed to talk to them or even LOOK at them. They would scare us into thinking that we'd be charged for it... I don't know if it's true, but they do have a lot of crazy rules, but they're all for a reason.

i am impressed that you are aware of the fact that the Marine Corps is the only branch of the US military that does not have a coed basic training; however, the Army does segregate males from females for combat arms MOS's as females are not alowed in these MOS's. the Marine Corps separates males and females because ALL Marines are infantry trained at boot camp. because in the infantry there is no privacy and definately no individual stalls for showers or in the head (the bathroom) also a field shower is simply stripping down and taking a shower out of your canteen. so to eliminate any problems men and women are separated for boot camp. also because the Marine Corps is allways under the watchfull eye's of the US and world we want to eliminate the possiblity of and sexual crimes that could arrise from having men and women in the stressful boot camp enviroment. because of the total lack of privacy and differences in mens and womens needs things are kept simple by separation. hope this helps you to understand a little better

they have the same training (basically) at boot camp, but are trained seperately for the most part. At Marine Basic, you will be lucky to even see a female recruit.
