It's hard to say whether or not your child will be potty trained before your other child is born. From reading the answers and personal experience some kids are easier to train then others. Some will get it right way others it might take a while. Some will learn before 2 1/2 while many boys do not. If your son is showing an interest and knows what it is all about then go ahead and try it. Having two kids in nappies isn't bad. But the only thing is is that if you potty train him now then when your baby is born he might regress and get jealous. Then he might not want to use the potty and just wet himself and refuse. But if you think he is ready give it a go. Good Luck!

My son was trained before that. My first was 2 1/2 when I had my second son. I didn't want 2 kids in diapers. Around 2 he was trained. Then he got his "big boy bed" just before his brother was born. There is 2 1/2 years between them. My son was fine with it. I told him he had to give up the diapers for the baby. So he was fine with it. He was a smart one though. He walked at 7 1/2 months too. The second one on the other hand was late with everything. Didn't talk well at 3. Had to do preschool speech. He didn't potty train till he was about 3 too. Depends on the kid. Good luck on both the training and the new baby.

My first son was easy to potty train he was trained when he was about 2 but my second son had a mind of his own & he didnt completly potty train until he was almost 3 it really depends on the child I see no harm in trying to get him started though

I had some success with my boy, but it was so problematic we stopped.

What I mean was...he was going #2 on the potty but he had trouble with #1. ALl if a sudden, he wouldn't go #2 in his diaper, so when we'd lay hin down for a nap (or the daytime sitter) he would take his diaper off in his crib and do it in bed. He'd wipe it on the walls, the bed...yuck!

Sooo...needless to say, we stopped it completely for a while and tried again later when he could understand punishment for something like that.

We got him potty trained (and rather quickly from start to finish I might add) right around 2 1/2 to 3

my son is 28 months old, and completely potty trained during the day. Has been for about 2 months now. Every child is differant. If your son is showing interest in potty training....GO AHEAD. just dont force it and make a big deal out of accidents.

IF your son is showing an interest in using the potty let him. My oldest was potty trained by the time he was 2 and my youngest fought it every step of the way so I just gave up and then one day he just started going. It really depends on the child. Good Luck!

well first how old is your son? you can try, just don't expect miracles. and having two in diapers is the chance you take in having them close together, it's hard, but just work with him and expect some trouble or set backs when the new baby arrives.
