awwww... poor kitty. Yes, your kitty has separation anxiety pretty bad. My cats are OK when I leave the house, which is never more than a few hours. But one time, when I was away overnight, my sister told me that my cat Kaffe badgered everyone in the house, meowing at them and jumping on the counters, window ledges and generally making a nuisance of himself. When I got home, he meowing so much it sounded like he was sobbing in relief. But he was young then and probably was not as sure as he is now that when I go out, I will come back. I helped him along somewhat by making sure that when I came home, I gave him a bit of food at once. Then he thinks that I had just gone out to hunt for food. Maybe you can arrange things so that whenever you come home after some hours away, you ave a bag, make a bit of "to do" in the kitchen and feed kitty a nice snack. Then he'll think momma has gone hunting and brought home the "bacon" for him to eat. That way he'll associate your going out with anticipation for the "kill" that he will later eat.

Yes, cats have been known to suffer from severe separation anxiety. Of course, it all depends on your cat's personality. But I had a cat once that we moved to another house and it got really sad and started moping around and mewing. We tried to make it feel better, but it just took a lot of time before it finally adjusted. Definitely try to give the cat as much attention as possible without spoiling it or making it too dependent. Hope this helps! Best Regards, Rylan92

My cat used to do this when I left for work. I started giving her a treat or 2 just as I was walking out the door. This at least bought me some time to get out the door and down the stairs.

Oh yes!
My girl kitty meows by the door and vomits. My boy kitty scratches, well destroys, the rug by the door. It looks terrible, since he's been doing it all his life and he's 2.
We've started leaving the radio on, turned down pretty low, to an NPR station. We only found one "prezzie" last week so it seems to be making some difference.

yeah, maybe your cat needs a cat buddy. Could you get a cat pal for it to hang out with. It's probably lonely.
