It depends on who it is.

Most of the Democrats would pull them out in their first 100 days.

Most of the Republicans would keep us over-committed.

We need someone who would strike the right balance. Give the Iraqis and Afghans the tools they need to secure themselves against terrorists and then get the hell out. We probably should establish a permanent training base like we have in Saudi.

As a side note, the comment about Jeb Bush below is stupid. Jeb is as different from George as their mother is from their father. If we'd had Jeb in office instead of George, the Bush family name wouldn't be sullied (but unfortunately, it would have paved the way for George W to get into office later).

Hopefully not I am a democrat and a huge liberal. But the popular conception that the troops should just pull out without properly training the government is a very stupid and irresponsible choice. They will just be taken over again if we can not properly set there government up. And this is no easy task and will take years. More people should offer to go and help. The problem is too many people hate the president for lying about the war. And they will not help him do anything about it. If we expect them to get out of there we need to help the Iraq and Afghanistan governments. This is not just simple child’s play. We made that mistake going in why make it coming out. But trying to heal religious differences is an impossible task. It can only be done through education. The whole thing is a huge fricking mess and we are going to be stuck there get used to it.

While I personally support the Iraq War, I can at least see why people want to pull out. But what I have trouble understanding is why do people want us out of Afghanistan? Do you not remember why we are there? Does 9/11 ring any bells? 3,000 innocent Americans dying? Anyway...

At this point pulling out of Iraq prematurely would be devastating for Iraq, the new government would fall to pieces and terrorists would take control back. All we have done would have been literally for nothing.

when a new president is elected and if there is no progress by then. Which God willing there will be. And there are signs of progress in the past few months.....Yes i believe there will be plans to draw troops from Iraq. But i do not believe in Afghanistan. The situation there is different. It would be a mistake for that to happen there. The region is very complicated and pulling out is not a simple thing to do. It would be a irresponsible thing to suddenly do. It will be a gradual redeployment of troops.

No way that's like us saying, "We don't stand behind anything we say" We can't pull out this time, remember we did that the first Gulf War and then 9/11 happened. The job has to be finished.

What? We all know Democrats never surrender. They just endure. Sorta like Johnson in Vietnam, Clinton in the Sudan and Carter with his 444 days of guest services for those American citizens in Iran.

We'll be either out, or well on our way out, of Iraq by the end of this year.
