No, I don't tithe because that's a legalistic form of giving that treats God like some kind of a divine tax collector. Instead I follow this New Testament passage that tells us what our attitude and generosity should be in accordance with.
2 Corinthians 9:6 The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. (7) Each one must give as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (8) And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. (9) As it is written, "He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever." (10) He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. (11) You will be enriched in every way for all your generosity, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. (12) For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God. (13) By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission flowing from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others, (14) while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you.
In case you are wondering, my actual percentage of giving is much more than 10 percent and no, I don't worry about "losing my reward" for telling you that because God knows my heart and that I don't give to receive praise from people. Instead I give like the woman who poured perfume on the feet of Jesus because as our Savior said "He who has been forgiven much, loves much".

Yes, we do tithe and give offerings above the 10%. It seems that a new trend is emerging that teaches against tithing. But, I will continue to tithe until Jesus comes back! It is a Biblical principle that should not be compromised.
We have a little saying that we try to live by: "We honor God with our tithes, talents, and time".

I give to charities, but I had never even HEARD of tithing before I moved to the south at the age of 25. I used to live all over the north, and no one gives more that 10 bucks to a church at once. When I used to go to mass, they were lucky to get a quarter out of many people.

Yes, I tithe and then I also give offerings above the tithe to designated causes like missions etc. I also have a sponsored child from Honduras I give a little bit money every month. I wish I could help more kids. Through our church missions I do though. It is wonderful to give. : )

I believe a christian should give whatever is on his heart to give to the church....we live by grace not the law....i dont sit there and get my calculator out and spend all day making sure i give exactly 10% of every piece of income i get everyday, i dont get worry and say "i have to make sure i tithe exactly 10% but 9.98 or 9.99%", opps i forgot to tithe on my birthday present or that free can of diet coke my friend bought for me at work, technically all those examples are considered "income", people can start being fearfull on this and say to say to themself.... "i have to be carefull and tithe correctly or i am going to hell"....Jesus taught us we are justifyed by grace of Jesus....and even in the old testament some people were free from the law such as david and how He told us in romans and law was a curse and finding grace in god sets us free from the law....romans also says the laws was written just to show how sinfull people were - a modivation to find gods grace....remember jesus died for all sin even the old testament sins too.

I don't. Reasons being:
1. It's for the people of Israel, to support the Levites, Temple, and the poor
2. It's not required in the NT of Christians
3. NT giving is voluntary and discretionary, with generosity encouraged
4. Today's tithings are mainly for buildings and salaries, two large components of a church's budget that are totally foreign to the NT mode of church as people, not buildings or institutions.

Yes, I do. I am glad to. I can't afford NOT to!! Its a commandment from the old testament to the New and to the Book of Mormon. 10% before taxes...
I have such miracle stories and a strong testimony of the power of tithing that I will never not pay it. I woudl be stupid to deny myself the blessings of the Lord after I have put Him first!!
Want blessings, want to be closer to the Lord... pay tithes. Its such a blessing.

The concept of a tithe is simply a way to gouge more money from ordinary people. Religions do not need the money, in fact, Jesus was against the idea of the church being a commercial venture

I was taught since I was a child by my giving Mom who went without her whole life, to give the shirt off your back and literally I have when I had nothing else to give. If I Have one slice of bread and someone is hungry it is for them.
