Thank you for any advise.

Here's a great website at the Transportation Safety Administration that should answer all of your questions:

http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm

You might also want to check the website for the airline you are using. Airlines I use allow a maximum of two bags/suitcases each weighing no more than 50# for free CHECKED BAGGAGE. (Bags that you give to them at the check-in counter to have put in the plane's storage hold. NOT stuff that you carry on the plane with you.)

You should also be able to get the info on the size of bag you can carry on the plane with you.

To get through the security scanner with the least hassle, I wear shoes that are easy to slip off and on (because you have to take them off to let them put through the security scanner) and minimize jewelry because you probably have to take all of that off in order for you to successfully get through the walk-through scanner. (Even tinfoil gum wrappers make the scanner go off!)

The airport you are flying from also very likely has a website that will have all the info you need.

Have a great flight!

First of all, the carrier you are traveling with, check out that airline's website for valuable information regarding weight restrictions and such. Before you leave your house, if there's any weather issue, call the carrier and check if there is any delay. In addition, you can check-in ahead and print your boarding pass saving you extra time. Also, you might want to get to the airport early, just in case. Finally, don't forget your passports or other valuable necessities. Well good luck and enjoy!

If you carry toiletry items in liquid form (shampoo, gels, etc.,) they must be 3 oz. or less. If the bottles are larger than 3 oz., you cannot carry them on the plane, but will need to put them in your checked luggage. Also, you cannot bring water bottles on. You are allowed to purchase water bottles at the airport after going through security and then take them with you on the plane. You can log onto your airline's website and they should have a detailed description for you. Remember, when going through security, you will most likely need to remove your shoes and any metal objects like watches, belts, etc. I recently flew and set off the alarm because of my necklace and belt buckle and had to be hand searched. There are lots of do's and don'ts, I would highly recommend checking with your airline to be safe since you have not flown before. Good luck and happy flying!

You can't bring on board bottles of shampoo, etc. larger than 3-oz. They'll make you throw it away. The best thing I did was to print my boarding pass from the airline website, at home. I could skip the check-in process at the airport and go right to the security checkpoint and then to my gate. Be sure to go to your airlines website to get all the information you need.
