Hi Samantha...cats who have an upper respiratory infection (URI) need to be evaluated by a veterinarian. An antibiotic needs to be prescribed for seconardy infections as a result of the URI's. Since 90% of cases are viral infections. However, antibiotics are prescribed it is because of the complications by secondary bacterial invaders. The antibiotics act on these.

Lots of fluids, rest, and good nutrition. If not better in 14 days, a vet is needed because cats tend to be very sensitive to many medications we use. Could the cat have an allergy? Some concerned owners have poisoned their cats with Tylenol. Be careful and have a purrfect year.

Do not give human medications like aspirin or tylenol. If kitty is just having some sniffles - sneezing from time to time, then just give him 100mg Vit C (human grade) crushed into his (wet) food) every other day. Give him plenty of fluids - water and wet canned food - the best quality you can afford. Keep him indoors, away from drafts and the cold. Allow him to rest and sleep in a quiet warm place. If he gets lethargic, lose his appetite, sneeze more and have watery eyes. you need to take him to the vet - he could have upper respirator infection and needs antibiotics.

What are her symptoms? I don't think cats really get "colds." It's usually an upper respiratory infection or possibly allergies. Only your vet can tell you for sure.
