It is because of science that we are allowed such wonderful things as modern medicine which extends lives mends the broken. It has given us ways to stay in touch with anyone from anywhere in the world. It has given us a window into the past and hope for the future. Science delivers results, things that are undeniable.

Modern Christianity and Islam seem to be at odds with Science. It seems some members of these religions would like nothing more than to see the discipline of science be erased from our society. So tell me... what results has religion brought to the table? Can we run our cars on faith? Can it chase demons of cancer out of our bodies?

If anything, because of religion, the crusades, etc, we are approx 800 years behind where we should be now. So what has religion done to advance mankind. The question should read, how much has religion stunted mankinds growth.

There are topics in Science that still contradict to nature still. Take Evolution for example. Do apes turn into humans on the mountains? Why do we lock our ancestors up in the zoo?

You may say it is a long process. Then, how come do some apes, remain apes?

Christianity has given me a purpose to live. And I believe it has given lots of people purposes in their lives also.

Moving cars and casting out demons, was only because of what the apostles were told to fulfill. They do not do things just out of their own interests, but they do what is revealed to them as their purpose.

I reckon you should get to know the religion better, before questioning it.

People have invented medicine, only to preevent death at an uncertain percentage of time. Time and death overcomes our flesh and body. No matter what we do to prevent it from happening, it will always come and meet us in the end.

Have you ever thought about why you lived?

Have you ever thought about what might happen when you die.

Death will come at people like a breeze, without them knowing.

But, what I know, is that I believe that there is a reason to believe that there is a God. I have many testimonies to reveal, but I'll tell you one. Please take time to read.

It is because of my concern upon this topic and you that I spend time typing, because I know it is worthy.

...

I was premature at birth, and it was upon the next month that my mom was to be expecting another baby. My father was working hard to keep both me and my mother alive. Because of her large loss amount of blood.

My parents had been attending prayer meetings, where saints, brothers and sisters unite and pray for one another for each others problems. Many miracles have occured in this place. And I believe that it was because of God's mercy, that I am still alive today, and I appreciate it.

My whole family is well, till this very day. And would you believe it or not. I haven't taken any medicine since the day of my birth.
I am not saying that I do not get sick, but I know how to put my faith in God to overcome it.

Well, good luck, I hope you find the answer.

It has done nothing. I think it does the opposite, it stifles
mankind from moving forward. For example, it's the
root cause of many wars. Terrorist do bad things because
of their religion. Socially, it's against
homosexuals it holds them back from being equal. It doesn't advance science, like stem cell
research. If it wasn't for religion mankind would be a
lot father advanced. We'd be zipping around space
like Star Trek right now.

Yes science delivers objects. Science delivers comforts. But the paradox is
"Happiness decreases inspite of increasing comforts".

Why is it so? What is our real seeking. Is it not happiness, fulfillment and contentment that we seek always. Other material objects are sub-goals to fulfill the main goal.

If science could help us, why do we have this paradox. Are not we losing more on the Goal and deeply involved in sub-goals. In fact they are not even sub-goals because they move us against our main Goal of happiness and fulfillment which is demonstrated in real saints and sages around the world.

Educated/uneducated, rich/poor, rational/devoted are many saints and sages who have reach this Goal of mankind a state of ever contentment. Have you not people who have come under the guidance of real saints, felt happiest times of their lives which science could not give.

In Hinduism that I know, we have many examples of living masters like Swami Vivekananda (who could see the entire world as brothers and sisters), Swami Ramakrishna, Swami Chinmayananda, Swami Sivananda, Aurobindo, Ramana Maharishi and many more who have demonstrated to be the symbols of contentment and service to humanity.

So religion is also a science. Modern science is in its infancy stage. It deals with minor sub-goals.

Religion has matured a long way (atleast in India and I think it should be the same with other religions too). How religion works to achieve this itself is a science. Saints are subjective scientists who also helps us in fulfilling our Supreme Goal of Bliss and Contentment.

NOTHING! Although, it has been a form of reasonably effective control for the masses. But at the cost of substantial progression. Religion does absolutely nothing for mankind. It is a complete waste of time with absolutely no relevance to reality. What if aliens do discover our planet? We're going to be the laughing stock of the galaxy! We're creatures that call ourselves sentient but have a society firmly under the yoke of primitive superstitious nonsense!

Your brush is to big. Faith minded people have brought science to the forfront.

1. have brought Hospitals to far flung places in the world
2. We have lifted the status of women
3. We have brought education to far flung places in the world.
4. We have lifted society to the next best level.

Than what have naysayers done to advance the society of the world.

Science alone is no savior, it still takes people of faith to advance the right causes to preserve life rather than destroy it.

many wonderful scientists inspired by God Almighty have made great discoveries that have advanced all mankind:

Great scientists like Johannes KEPLER saw God's magnificance and constantly gave praise to God Almighty for his wonderful laws built into nature. He was a creationist.

So did Isaac NEWTON.......and he wrote 1 million words about his LITERAL belief in the Scripture. He was a creationist. " I have a fundamental belief in the Word of God....I study the Bible daily". - Isaac Newton

The electromagnetic equations of James Clerk Maxwell attest to the Magnificant mathematical inginuity of the Creator.
He was a Creationist.

If you are serious about your question, you will read the Bible and find out what not "religion" has done but what having a relationship with you Lord Jesus Christ has done for you.
Be Blessed and Rejoice in the Lord!
May your year be filled with revelation. God Bless You!
