Good running shoes, toiletries, feminime products, a couple sets of clothes, good sports bras.

The most important things to take with you to basic training are a good attitude and self confidence that you will complete basic training with high scores. Do your very best and you will succeed. The only other things that you will need are the clothes on your back, your orders, and a pat on your back from a grateful nation. You should be very proud of yourself. Good luck and thank you.

Cut your hair before you go if you don't your taking a chance of getting butchered! Bring 7 pairs of WHITE panties, and socks 3 WHITE sports bras, and 3 regular WHITE bras, tooth paste, tooth brush, hair brush and deodorant. Remove all nail polish and acrylic nails. If you wear contacts, bring solution and glasses too. If you wear make up ONLY BRING foundation and mascara, if it doesn't look natural you wont be able to wear it. Dont wear any ear rings, belly rings, tongue or nose rings, the only rings you can wear is an engagement ring and or a wedding ring, no necklaces. Also bring a good pair of running shoes ( I swear by Adidas and Nike ). Don't bring too much money you wont need it, $50 at most. Good luck and remember not to be scared when you get there, it's all training and it gos by fast.

T.J. is correct. My son just joined the Marines less than 6 months ago. The clothes on your back is all you can take and your billfold with id and social security card and a few pictures and addresses in your wallet. The rest will be taken away . Shoes will be replaced as well as glasses, all clothes replaced. Thank- You for protecting America.

Even women need a shaving kit, tooth brush & paste, soap etc. In basic it is hard to get to the px to buy personal items, and money is going to be in short supply. Personal items and underwear are about it tho'. Everything else they will just take away from you. You should be provided with a list.

ok first look ate the Military site of the military branch you are going in to. it should tell you everything. what to take and what not to take. and dont take running shoes and you wont be allowed to wear them. you will be issued Military boots camo's and your Shirt, that you get 2 of(cant remember). also talk to a recruiter of every branch even if you have already chose your branch. as it is nice to see what benifits you can get.

just identification and the clothes on your back. all the rest will be supplied. keep in mind that everything that you take will be put in storage until after you graduate boot camp. so disregard the comments about taking undergarments and running shoes, even those will be supplied. any questions, contact your recruiter.

Dont take running shoes, i brought some and they wouldnt let me wear them. but some places do. bring civilian clothes and writing pad. u will have all your personal things except pictures and paperwork taken from you. oh and here is something i probably shouldnt tell you. but i wish i would have known this. when u finish basic and head to ait. if u dont have to report until a certain date...dont. my orders for ait was something like oct. 10 and i left basic oct 6. so i had four days until i reported. all u do is sit around for four days. it sucks. so if u get there a few days before, get a hotel and chill for a few days until you have to report. have fun!!!

All you need is an address book with the names, addresses and phone numbers (in case you are lucky). Everything else will be taken away from you, anything you need will be provided.

An address book, 5 white bras (sports) and whilte underware...
the rest will be supplied.
Dont' take a couple sets of clothes...you can't wear them and it will only cost you money to send them home.
And yes...you can bring your own running shoes.
