HPV (Herpes Papilloma virus) is a sexually transmitted virus that can cause cervical cancer. It does not cause every case of cervical cancer, however. Environmental and genetic factors can also play a role.

HPV is the most common std. Approximately 80% of people of people will be exposed to it sometime in their life. For most, a healthy immune system is enough to beat the virus. It's kind of like the chicken pox, once you have it once and your body develops antibodies to it it won't come back it will just lie dormant in your body. i had hpv and my doctor said i can't pass it on to anyone. there are about 30 strains that are sexually transmitted. some cause warts and others cause dysplasia (which is abnormal cervical cells which could turn into cancer). Some strains are more dangerous than others. Once you get diagnosed w/ hpv you must get paps every 6 months to make sure it doesn't get worse. there is a vaccine gardisil that is out now for women 26 and younger. this vaccine only protects against 4 strains of hpv. it protects against 70% of cervical cancer cases and 90% of warts. so even if you are vaccinated there are still 26 other strains you can get! but the most dangerous ones are covered by the vaccine. cervical cancer is not hereditary it's from hpv which is a common std.

Most common causes of cervical cancer is HPV, which stands for Human papillomavirus. (contacted sexually) However, I had pre-cervical cancer and HPV was negative. So there may be other factors involved in cervical cancers, which you should discuss with your doctor.

HPV - Human Papilomas Virus. - warts on your cervix or vagina. If you don't get them treated, it can lead to cervica; cancer.

I don't know what "cervical cancer" is but I know that if you eat too much ramen(I LOVE RAMEN!!!)you could get some kind of cancer.
