Going to school is very possible. It's 100% paid tuition and you can pick up many of your classes online. You can usually get your classes scheduled around your unit training schedule, but it can be tough sometimes.

I don't know that it's easier to get promoted in the FMF, but it sure is quicker. You would expect to make it to Corporal in less than 2 1/2 TIS on the active side.

Life is like your weekend drill, but there is just more time. The Reserves typically have a zillion things to accomplish and only 4 drill periods to make it happen each month.

Have you considered a Lat move? That would be the perfect time if you are thinking of changing jobs.
Best of luck to you, Semper Fi.

0311 is very slow to pick up even active duty. Its probably one of the slowest, because they want them to know what they are doing. Going to school will be paid for, but its not always easy. They are currently on regular deployment rotations that will make it hard to keep up with your studies. Why don't you try and change MOS's to something that doesn't deploy as much if you want to go to school? Oh, and if you want to look up how fast you could pick up vs other MOS's you should look up cutting scores online. If you get on your MOL account, look under links and you can find the site that lists them for all MOS's and ranks up to Sgt.
