well i have a batam cochin rooster and he has huge spurs. i dont know what to do about them. are you supposed to cut them? leave them natural?

if they are way too big cut them a little bit- spurs help a rooster maintain balance when walking, but when too long it can trip the rooster, or make it accidently crack its spur- making it bleed to death.

just cut the nail part though- to much will cause the rooster to bleed.

its your choice, but id say cut them- (unless you do cockfighting illegally ;-)

The spurs are a way for the rooster to protect himself and his flock. They can be left or cut off. If its a pet and/or its allowed to run loose around people, I would recommend that if you don't cut them off, at least keep them dull. A rooster can cause a lot of damage with the spurs.

You should cut them off only leaving about 1-2 inches of the spur, you can use a hack saw or dog nail clippers. It will bleed alot but you can rud chalk on the spur to stop the bleeding.

and roosters are annoying
