This summer I will be going to London, Birmingham, Newcastle, and Manchester with my best friend and my girlfriend's brother. My bestfriend and I are 27, so we are obviously of legal age, but my girlfriend's brother is only 16. We are going to England strictly to watch football matches and will therefore want to do some drinking before and after the matches. Will he be able to drink in pubs at 16?

It really depends on where you are. Some will adhere to the drinking age 18 without a meal, and (it might have changed, but) 16 with a meal. I was up in the Orkney Islands, and they let me have a drink at age 13. If you're all really amiable, then they'll let her have a drink.

Legal Drinking age is 18. Regardless of if you look your age or not if you are going to a bar or nightclub you will be asked for ID. The doorstaff by law have to make sure you have ID on you for safety/medical reasons. My last "works party" we went out on a pub/club crawl and a colleague aged 39 was refused entry for having no ID! Pubs might be easier if you look older, but most places do have a "if you look under 21" policy as explained in a previous answer :) Restaurants all depend on if you think you can get away with it. Some places dont mind 16/17 yr olds having a drink with a meal but i think thats off the record !! Legally they're not allowed :) And finally .... never heard of the absolut ice bar - Sorry!

he will not be able to buy it you have to legally be 18 and they will ask for ID, but most places will let him drink it, me and my friends get drunk on most weekends (we're 15 mostly), but if you get someone else to buy it, it is OK, but obv we dont go to the pubs
