I´m visiting my father for a few days and the last time I did it, I had a very nice room but now he took my grandma to live with him and his new wife ,and she took that room. Last night when I asked him where am I gonna sleep, he said the neighbour is gonna lend them a futon. I´m concerened because the neighbour´s sons had the chicken pox two months ago and somebody told me I could get the pox if the futon is contaminated and I´m not immune. The thing is that, I´m kind of an HIPOCONDRIAC! and I don´t want to sleep in that futon, what should I do??? how do I tell my father, he is gonna think I´m crazy!!! (ok, I admit it, I AM alittle crazy).

Buy an airbed for yourself and a pump so you dont faint when you blow it up. lol. Take your own sleeping bag and this way its yours and yours alone. Problem solved.

Crazy? No. Paranoid? Perhaps. I would purchase some lysol just to be on the safe side and put a couple of sheets over the futon. If you find that is too risky because of your issue. Sleep on the floor. Whoever told you the futon was contaminated obviously is playing on your condition. I would invite them over to take the futon and you take the floor.

you're not crazy, just cautious...and don't worry, you r not alone... i, for 1 am the same way, im not comfy in using somebody else's stuff not to mention that somebody had chicken pox used it...
what i can suggest is let your dad know how u feel and instead of putting the burden on him, u can say u will bring your own sleeping bag or tell him u don't mind sleeping on the carpet with comforter as a bed. u don't need to have the luxury of a bed, it's just a short visit anyway. it's the time spent with your dad that matters, right?

Tell your father that you don't want to trouble his neighbour into lending you his futon, and that you'll bring your own sleeping bag (or whatever you're going to be sleeping in). That way, you can reject the offer without being rude.

no you should not be able to get the chickenpox from the futon, because the only way you can get i to be in close contact with a person who just now started to brake out with the bumps and is still running a fever.that somebody who told you that don`t know what they are talking about or they are trying to pull one over on you.if you still don`t feel comfortable you can always get a can of spray dessinffectant and spray it on the futon.hope i could ease your mind.
