Sounds like you have injured the sciatic nerve, which is the longest nerve in the body and runs from the lower back into the leg. You are have radiating pain.

Start with ice for 15 minutes once an hour. If the pain continues for more than five days, go see your family doctor.

After two days you can add heat packs three times a day for no more than 30 minutes.

When you are sleeping: If on your back, put two pillows below the legs to elevate them. If you sleep on your side, put a pillow between the knees. If you sleep on your stomach (not the best for back pain) put a pillow directly under the stomach.

It could be anything from just a pain, to a nerve or a problem in your hips. Sometimes, when there is something wrong in your hips it can cause pain in your leg and your back. Best bet is if it continues to be a problem go see a doctor.

I would suggest a chiropractor. A family doctor will suggest pain killers, maybe a couple of stretches and the proper way to sit and sleep at night. A chiropractor will actually pin point the problem and be able to relieve some of the pressure then and there.

Any kind of pain is a sign of dehydration. You need to up your water intake. You will be surprised at how fast the pain goes away. Read the book "your'e not sick, you're thirsty". I used to be in pain alot until I started drinking more water mixed with apple cider vinegar. Read about ACV as well.

This could be because of muscle fatigue or dehydration. Why don't you try some time tested home remedies? I found this website very useful. http://aches.in/cramps.html
